"Tandy, you can't blame people."
"And why not? Why not? Those people choose misery and I'm sick of watching it."
"People don't choose to struggle, Tandy. They don't choose the hurt. Doing nothing is not a solution."
Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen

White Lines is the second episode of the second season of the television series Cloak & Dagger.

Synopsis[]

Desperate to help, but only finding they cause more problems than solving them, Tyrone and Tandy continue to struggle with their situation. What is the point of having superpowers if you only seem to make things worse?

Plot[]

C&D202 Brett Latour Death Sign

Immediately after the massacre. The fatally injured Brett Latour draws a loa sign in the ground before dying. Cloak and Dagger enter the room, but are too late. Brigid O'Reilly follows them and yells at them to get out of the active crime scene. She then opens the door which causes the loa sign to blow away. Bowen talks to Johnson in the hallway where she claims that people don't want their help. Still in the room, O'Reilly calls 911 and makes a report of several dead bodies. She then walks out and goes to a bar.

Johnson meets with Chantelle Fusilier and shows her the loa sign. Chantelle explains that it is a Veve and then creates one for Johnson, saying it's to protect him. Evita Fusilier then walks down the stairs and sees her ex-boyfriend, Johnson. She angrily storms out while Johnson follows her. He tries to explain why he left and that he's a fugitive. He then brings her into an alley and shows her his powers. Even with this explanation, she still angrily walks further away.

Bowen goes to a support group where she listens to Mikayla Bell who talks about how she is giving her abusive boyfriend, Jeremy, a second chance. Bowen lashes out in disgust, scolding Bell for letting him stay. Lia Dewan tries to shut down the argument, but Bowen tells Bell to leave when he hits her. Bell runs out of the room.

Later at St. Theresa's Church, Johnson creates a veve of his own and wishes for justice. He then teleports into an ambulance holding Bell captive pleading for him to help her get out. The man driving notices and shoots at Johnson, who teleports back just before being hit. He arrives back at the church slumps over in anguish.

DancingBalletC&D202

Bowen practices her ballet whilst remembering how she had approached Jeremy after the meeting and scolded him as well. Through her anger, she accidentally causes a power outage through her powers. She enters the support group room and asks Dewan if Bell had returned. Dewan tells her no, then Andre Deschaine walks in and introduces himself as the head of the group. The two walk down the street as Deschaine explains his past of being a trumpet player, but having to quit because of his respiratory health. During the conversation, Bowen sees a vision of her father which scares her, making the power go out again, she then runs away.

At the bar, O'Reilly ignores many calls and gets drunk to the point where she pukes on the street, calling herself pathetic. In the reflection of a puddle, another personality tells O'Reilly that it's her turn now. She walks back into the crime scene and finds a suspects house. Meanwhile, Bowen stops running at a telephone pole where Chantelle is singing in mourning of the human trafficking victims who's papers are posted on the pole. Deschaine catches up to Bowen and gets a call about Bell. Deschaine breaks the news that Bell had overdosed and is in the hospital. Bowen rushes into the ER and sees Dewan. They talk about Bell's condition and Dewan reminds Bowen that it isn't her fault. When Dewan leaves, Dagger goes up to Bell's bed and touches her hand to see her hopes. Instead of hopes, she sees darkness except for two windows of what looks like an ambulance door. She looks in and sees Bell being trafficked by a man. She also sees a sign for a bar with a skull on it.

C&D202 Lightforce Sphere

At the house, O'Reilly interrogates the suspect, Stephanie Latour, and then rips up a painting hanging on the wall and threatens to do the same thing to the whole house. After getting a location, which turns out to be the same bar as Bowen, she goes to the place and sees Dagger. Confused, Bowen asks what she is doing there and O'Reilly replies saying she is a cop and can do whatever she wants. Dagger sees the man who took Bell and chases after him. However, the man takes the ambulance and drives towards the exit where O'Reilly stands with a gun. He reverses and goes back towards Dagger, who creates a more powerful Lightforce sphere and throws it at the vehicle, making it explode. They interrogate the man who tells them information, Dagger runs off to meet with Cloak. Alone with the man, O'Reilly kills him with her sharpened nails.

Mayhem'sKill202

Meanwhile, Cloak draws another veve, but it doesn't work. Evita walks in saying that it takes time to practice. She then apologizes, saying that she didn't realize what it was like to be in his shoes. Johnson talks about how he wants to save Bell, but doesn't know how to teleport someone with him. Evita helps him draw the veve and gets him to focus on what he wants. He then teleports both him and Evita into the hospital where they see an unconscious Bell. Evita kisses Johnson to distract the officers who were walking by. They kiss again for real and Evita tells him he should go. Johnson goes to O'Reilly's house and finds her tied up on the floor. O'Reilly explains that another version of her tied her up. Johnson teleports them both to Dagger, who is confused to see O'Reilly. They run around the corner to see the other version killing the man.
