An epic '80s classic Sci-fi comedy. While a big part of the show are the mechas, what really makes this show super fun and interesting is the quite vast amount of characters for such a short OVA, each with their own crazy personality; and lets not forget about the amazing cast of seiyuus starring here like Yoshiko Sakakibara, Toshio Furukawa, Shigeru Chiba & You Inoue (just to name a few), which adds an extra layer of enjoyment to this already great show (for me at least!).
Don't forget to watch the TV series (which is even better) after this! 47 more episodes of pure crazy fun mayhem!

It's funny, it's fun, it's not what I expected, and it is imho a little underrated. Maybe people were noticing the Mecha and where expecting something different from what it gives the viewers?

Each ova showcases some of the most interesting jobs at the Patlabor office. This is mecha on a realistic level.
More than the mecha, its the interesting people that made this series fun (I think 6.9, is sort of underrated). Goto the chief is someone that anyone would love to have as a boss. He is so mature that he handles even crazy situations in a simple and straightforward way, keeping everyone at ease. Similarly, each character is interesting and we start caring for them.
The animation is really good (looks wonderful in 1080p). Better than even current animes.
Its also very short, just 7 episodes, so its a no brainer (recommended).

Old but gold. I had my doubts, seeing as it was from before the 90's even, but it was a nice watch. Maybe not as exciting as new anime, but that didn't stop me from cracking a smile while watching it. The animation is, in my opinion, great. Who cares if it's not super realistic? In fact, it's probably more realistic than most modern anime... Just saiyan.

A must see classic for anyone who's generally interested in anime. Great story with highly detailed visuals will make you watch it till end and want more! If you liked the OVA then you will certainly like 47 episode TV series, be sure to check those out.

An excellent combination of sitcom comedy, mecha anime and political thriller. It can also serve as an introduction to the Patlabor franchise.
