This reboot seems to include the resolution, which they could have just created another season to complete, a lot of the story is different with more emphasis on fights that take 3 episodes to complete, they each have the same stages (introduction, escalation, backstory, resolution), which really slows down the pace of this anime. I guess its for fans of the Manga.
Probably could have boiled this down to 16-24, episodes without a lot of the filler or increased the pace. But maybe that's what was so charming about the manga.

I'd say overall it's decent, it started really nice with episode 5 being one of the greatest single episodes of any anime, but the fast pacing kinda leaves you lukewarm. The ending was really cool and made much more sense than the 2001 one. Don't expect too much after episode 10 and you'll enjoy yourself.

When this launched, I didn't really understand why they needed to reboot the 2001 series. It was... "fine".
Admittedly, it is a very middle-of-the-road example of what people would consider a good reboot. It left a lot of potential on the table in favor of sticking with the existing formula. What they did do was stay closer to the Manga (in both storytelling and visual style), finish the story properly, and do so in much fewer episodes than the original Anime.
The result is a very briskly-paced and efficient series without any sidetracking at all. My verdict is that it was worth it. Fans of the franchise should enjoy watching this instead of watching or re-watching the older series. To outsiders, copying the Manga's art style verbatim is going to be divisive and the story might still come off as a little too generic.
