Prequel, but we retain some of the same characters different MC and looks to have a conclusion of the classmates from S2. As this is a movie there is much less filler, and hero development the story is nicely woven throughout and it seems our MC just mostly has quite a talent for what he does.
Art throughout is brilliant, with very unique shots and beautifully animated action. The story pacing is much quicker paced keeping me invested throughout.

This movie takes place a few years prior to S1 and follows a new MC. It was cool to get more character development from a lot of the support characters and one of the villians from S1. For the most part this follows the same structure to S1 in that the MC is learning about curses and training. Even if you haven't seen the main series before the movie, this is a good entry point to this franchise. Overall, this was an enjoyable movie and look forward to the next season.

Unexpectedly does not follow the cast of the main series. However, it provides not only a great introduction to the protagonist of the movie, who had only ever been mentioned in passing in the first season, but also some insight into one of the principle antagonists of the series.
If you're watching the franchise anyway, absolutely don't skip this one, it's worth your time.

Absolute beast of an animation, soundtrack, voice acting. But a rather flat and conventionnal story. The new MC is a somewhat correct emo protag but nothing much of interest arises from the story. If you are new to the JJK universe I think this is a very good starting point but if you already watched the anime, nothing really new or interesting will come out of it. Still, it's an enjoyable watch.

The story, to be honest, is fairly standard as far as plot and surprises go. Not bad, not at all. But not great either.
What is good to great is just about everything else about this movie. The fights, the characters... it all just clicks. Must see for anyone planning on watching or already having seen the series. Very much recommended for everyone else.

JJK0 has some of the flashiest and most beautifully animated anime fights I've ever seen, but the plot is just so-so and there are some strange inconsistencies in quality across the non-fight scenes.
