This was a cute slice of life anime about a mobster turned softie, there has some very serious undertones, soul searching and there are some darker scenes peppered throughout, so not quite child friendly.
I enjoyed the anime for its slow pace and good atmosphere, all the characters are clean and likeable so quite a stark contrast from the complexities of reality, this anime tries to be child friendly I'd be interested to know their target audience, heh.

The only reason this doesn't get full marks from me is that there was a completely useless episode. Fillers are frustrating as hell.
This was heartbreaking, hateful, loving, encouraging, and hopeful. This series had everything you'd hope a series has (minus the one completely TRASH episode.)
Calling it similar to Usagi Drop is absolutely accurate on the core values. This brought me to happy tears more times than I can count, and it was a straight shot all the way through. That is how I know a series is good, when I can't stop watching it, regardless of what time of night or morning it is.

It's pretty good, surprisingly realistic and serious, don't get me wrong, it's still an anime, but it doesn't make light of anything which I appreciate, and thanks to that there was almost nothing to annoy me (it had just a few to many sadists though). I also liked the strong sense of family and loyalty. And of course Yaeka was precious, would love to see a sequel story of her in high-school...

If you like similar series about this (ex. Usagi Drop), you prob enjoy this. But overall it's still relatively very weak aside from production value & consistency.
It's like if you combine all the mundane scenes with not much emotional effect, but also try to switch things up with some action.
