Arsène Lupin Sansei is the grandson of the master thief Arsène Lupin. With his cohorts Jigen Daisuke and Ishikawa Goemon XIII and his love interest Mine Fujiko, he pulls off the greatest heists of all time while always escaping the grasp of Inspector Zenigata Kouichi.

Roman is almost like a tribute to Lupin III. The protagonist is very similar to that of Lupin, it has one female lead, one clumsy officer and one cool-headed samurai-like man who uses a gun style called Jigen-ryu. There's a man named Ishikawa Gojuemon. To top it off, the original character designs were designed by Monkey Punch himself.

While Cowboy Bebop is about bounty hunters, Lupin is about criminals with about the same feel. Cowboy Bebop is almost like an inspiration of Lupin. Lupin is like Spike because they both have the attitude to boss people around and work for their partners. Jigen is like Jet because Jigen acts like the chief of the show just like Jet. Faye is like Fujiko because Faye acts like a flirty pervert. Vicious is like Goemon because Goemon is mostly the villian in the show. If you liked Cowboy Bebop, then you might dig Lupin and see if you like it.

The greatness of this show doesn't come from its production. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of various American cartoons of the same general era. What makes this show so great is that it's Japanese with a specific Japanese flair. Cartoons for adults. Entertaining, witty, funny, with a story that's timeless. This show has aged surprisingly well. On top of that, it was a historical pioneer of 'modern' anime. This was a show that people actually tuned in to every week (there were no VCRs back then). Anyone who wishes to consider themselves well-versed in anime as a genre must have this one under their belt. And, for that matter, anyone who just wants to be entertained by well-done 'old school' anime is seriously missing out if they give this one a miss. Not the best anime ever written, but still quite good 45 years later.

The first anime to specifically target adult audience. So, it's basically part of the history of anime.

A highly entertaining classic anime! If you wanna see a real classic, then look no further. Lupin III is the way to go.
While the show is extremely episodic and repetitive, it still manages to entertain you if thieving and adventure is your thing.
