Akina is Chiaki's best friend. She would bring Lucky Drop Candy to school every day, and the pair would each eat one after lunch. Her secret crush on Misato led to an argument, after which she and Chiaki stopped talking to each other and drifted apart. She ended up having to change schools due to her father's job, but the pair were able to reconcile before she left.
