Okui Atsushi is a photographic director. He was born in Shimane Prefecture.
In 1981, he joined Asahi Production as a photographic technician. In 1992, he became the head of Studio Ghibli's photography department, which was established in the same year. Since then, he has assisted with photographic and image direction for most of Studio Ghibli's works, including Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.
