The Etanians had an unusual way of invading other worlds. First, they created what appeared to be natural disasters, then, after the population had evacuated, they would arrive and claim the planets as their own.

In 2373, the Etanians attempted to take over a Nezu colony using an asteroid strike, but this was defeated with the aid of the USS Voyager. (VOY episode: "Rise")
