This show is a love story between Akane and Yamada. That's all.
If you see anything else on the screen it's just ornamental fluff, and the only thing that matters is how much Akane is in love with Yamada. Problem is, it's not their mad devotion to each other, but author who shamelessly and ruthlessly makes the story progress in a way that it would end with akane and yamada together.
Someone who tries to understand her hobbies? It's just a mixer mob guy who doesn't even get to have eyes. A girl crushing on him for 3 years, who finally finds the courage to confess? Nerd-glass ... face doodle girl, who made a silly mistake of confessing after Yamada and Akane already met each other. Akane gets pranked? The whole secondary cast comes to rescue, with Yamada in vanguard.

It's still an alright watch, but I didn't run away from shounens to watch a romance protagonist get bailed out or lead by plot armor.

Maybe it's the target audience.
If you need a cour of slop where a heartbroken cheerful girl gets fatefully connected to a brusque mister perfect who actually isn't blunt but very kind and awkward, then sit your ass down and open wide.
Otherwise it's a skippable romance story.

It's an alright show for anime vacuum between seasons.
It suffers tremendously from TooMuchGood disease.
MC gains dozens of ridiculous abilities after eating any random dog and frog lying dead on the road.
MC evolves into some new amazing species every other episode.
MC gets new harem members every time he participates in any sort of fight, by hook or by crook.
MCs merry band of monster organisation grows so wide and tall that like half of secondary cast in later episodes is never really introduced, they just pop into existence and we know nothing about where tf they crawled out from and why do they fight with ... MC now.

They attempted an interesting storytelling method of 2-10 minute skits between time skips forward, but honestly if this story were to be properly presented with conventional storytelling methods, you'd need 40 or more episodes, not 12, andd smart storytelling or not it's impossible to cram that amount of story in one cour.

Still, it was fun to watch even with its shortcomings, so give it a try. If you don't like the first episode you can safely drop it.

It's painful.
I feel so empty.
every year or so, there will come out a show about shield/ armor user, and they will usually botch their sole hook.
"yea he's a disdained shield hero who can only use a shield. But actually all the shields he gets are just flat disc shaped bazookas and laser emitters, see?"
"that girl went all in with the defense stat because she doesn't want to feel painful when playing this VR game. But actually she will get a new ability every other episode that lets her use her full-stat defense as attack so she's basically invincible"

I really hoped with this show. MC properly ... kept on using his shield and attracted aggro. Except he also discovers he has a skill that lets him reflect all the damage he's received back.

I'd love nothing more than to see a bloody, meaty anime where body slams and shield bludgeoning is king, laws of physics work the way they should and everybody feels the recoil of both given and received blows.
It's a fact though that it would take a scary amount of money to make it, and it's a big gamble if it would catch on and bring in profit for the studio.

So, this is what I subsist on. A harem-y anime with shouting friendship, nice guy protagonist, "kuh! our full power Anal Destroyer combined ancient sage magic didn't even make him flinch?!?" lines, and fight scenes where screen has to be at least 20% filled with shitty skill use lasers and lights because that's the cheapest way of animating heavy power.

It's not a bad show, I watched it until the end with no regrets. It's just not very interesting either.

It's a time killer.
They attempted to cram transmigration, villainess redemption, doctor house, women empowerment, mary sue "wow that girl is amazing and can do everything!", unachievable love, political intrigue and reverse harem into 12 episodes, with predictable results.
It's not a bad story, but due to time constraints it's all very shallow and smudgy.

The general plot fails to interest me, with it being "MC makes a wager with king-sama so that she can escape the fate of marrying the bishounen, kind prince and become and empress; only that way she can be a doctor and save a lot of people". Watch out, bitch, how i'll smack ... you when season 2 rolls around and she becomes either "Doctor Empress" that will release the modern medicinal knowledge, or just a "normal empress" that realizes that she can save zozzles more people than a doctor that way, considering she can fund and propagate the medicine anyway.

The world building is smudgy, too, since it's a world of sword and magic. But there's guns! But they use candles in a wooden theatre (which is aimed at noble attendance). Oh but wait, they have electricity powered defibrylators! But bone saws are analog shite that I wouldn't want to use for a DIY doghouse, not to mention cutting people in critical condition with. Till the last episode I'm not sure what the hell is going with the technology level of that world.

So, while it's a nice watch, it's also very forgettable. In a month this review will probably be the only thing standing testament that I did see this show.

It's a very varied show, trying it's best to show something new, bizzare or interesting each time the plot progresses to the next point.
It's on a weird moral spectrum where no blood is spilt, but random people WILL die to drive home the point about how the reality is in a given location.
Each and every sub-plot is interesting to watch.
The overarching plot is sloppy like a deep-fried meme, and the villains in the show could easily be scrapped with no detriment to the storytelling.

That's what I'd like isekai shows to be like. Breathtaking landscapes, shocking ways of life locals lead, mind-boggling phenomena protagonists can only ... obey and not harness, with interesting interpersonal relations and engaging plot as a cherry on top.

Honestly the only reason it's not a 10 for me is because I feel there could be more depth in interpersonal relations and the main plot could be handled in a more interesting way, but that'd be a tough nut to crack with only 12 episodes to work with.

Easily recommended.

This show is bad.
It's a love story between an angel that is being persecuted by her family and a nosebleed harem protagonist demon (who literally gets collared and forced to obey the angel in starting from episode 1). However, putting aside how love correlates to stockholm syndrome, romance isn't really done well. It's 8 episodes of dumb posturing and one-upping each other at acting cool and cute, very, VERY stretched out shots of every scene, and occasional "e-eeeeEEeh?! I... I AM in love with a demooon?!??" and "G-gh! she's actually very kind for an angel!".
And it would be fine. It's a challenge to write a ... good story, and writing a good story about interpersonal relationships in a way that feels believable and relatable is even harder. Nevermind about translating such a story into a series of 20 minute long episodes.

But starting from episode 9 it turns into a lowest tier shounen fight, with disgusting villains, incredible powers sleeping in MC's right arm, unbeatable odds and an MC who beats those odds anyway because he gets too agitated to remember he's only an actor in this fake-ass story and not a real person.

There is a slew of worse shows, and by their grace this anime could be called "good", but I can't recommend it to anyone because it's hard for me to imagine someone watching this show to the end and not feeling disappointed with how this story progresses.
If you want to watch some anime and there's nothing you haven't seen yet... then just go and re-watch your favorite show, honestly.

This show wasted it's first 3 episodes.
It's about an isekai toddler that loves petting animals, and in case you didn't catch that, she will do almost exclusively that for those precious, precious 3 episodes of screentime. Just some kid playing with animals can be fun to watch, don't get me wrong. But it needs either a gilfted narrator that can convey they joy and impressions on each animal, or interesting animals and exceptional art style for this approach to be viable. We get neither of those here.

Well, it seems they did catch onto this fact after 3 episodes, so a proper story and a grand ... jouney start shining through all the badly animated fur. But the remaining 9 episodes aren't enough to stop the story at a satisfying moment, and an extra two episodes would be required to correctly settle the plot of the first arc of the proper story.

It wasn't horrible to watch (though I admit I struggled until episode 4), but I can't recommend with clear conscience a show that makes such a horrible mistake in deciding how the story should be distributed among the episodes.
Did they not have an overarching director for this show or something?

It's a yuri journey of duty-bound executioner, and a time-travelling yandere executee.
Hence it's super different from normal isekai because All Summonees Must Die.

I don't get why are people so smitten with this show. It's twelve episodes of messed up relationship, from both sides. I care fuck all about "world-building" and "plot" if 70% if not more of the story is 2 people faking smiles and lying to each other in some twisted bout of duty.
If I wanted this kind of slop I'd give Citrus a swing instead of watching the isekai version.

Then again, all poor weaboos with isekai bleeding out of all the orifices in ... their head might enjoy this because it certainly does not copy the common isekai mould. For better or for worse.

Kuma kuma kuma bear suffers from the Isekai second season syndrome.
Our teddybear pajama MC punched all the bad guys, gained all the powers, brought happiness to all lolis, saved all the kingdom, made all the powerful friends she needed, enterpreneured all the money and explored all the new world in the first season.
So the majority of the second season is spent showcasing each of those spots under the paper-thin guise of "problems" occuring to her friends.

Some meager attempts were made to pretend the new world keeps expanding in scope (mainy by the MC saying "Gee-whiz, this new world sure has still many unseen places ... and phenomena in store for me!" on the way back to Beginner Town to look after her stupid restaurant), but there is no truly new encounter, no new place or scenery, and you can bet all your money there is no fresh or at least different plot archetypes.

So, if you liked lolis eating snacks and swooning over fluffy bears, Yuna being underestimated for dressing in bear pajamas, some-or-such fearsome Big Animal appearing, Yuna being praised for recalling this or that junk food recipe and being praised left and right, or Sneaky Bad Guys getting punched really hard after an episode of doing Sneaky Bad Guy things... You're in luck, because that's all this season is.
Oh, and above list is roughly in descending order of screentime, so you better fucking like watching lolis eating cake and cuddling oversided teddybears.

I think that 1 season was enough, and hearing of the creative liberties they took while adapting this show for all ages, I think novel readers will think so too.
Still, to each their own, so if you liked season 1 enough to want less suprising and sloppier second helping, then here it is.

It's an anime with a good source material.
Now for the bad parts: Ray is turned into an annoying retard, and the 20 years behind the times art style of "Tehe-pero~~" makes her even more infuriating. All male cast look like sloppiest otome game parodies.
Source material goes slightly into politics, and while nothing truly in-depth is touched upon there, it is way beyond what 12 episode anime can convey. So they just cut it down into "greedy church is inciting commoners" and "foreign nation bad". And since all but Claire of the story characters stand at the center of the political upheaval, this bid for screentime ... to showcase Ray's hard-on for Claire makes those involved characters incredibly shallow.

I'll join the novel nerds on this one and say: Don't bother with the anime, read the novel. It's much more enjoyable, fluffy and fulfilling, and you look smart for reading instead of creeping people out by watching "some degenerate lesbian chineese cartoons".
