Timeskip

The timeskip in the context of One Piece refers to the two-year skip in the storyline that occurs between Chapters 597–598 and Episodes 516–517.^[1] It separates the story of One Piece into two halves: Sea of Survival: Super Rookies Saga and The Final Sea: The New World Saga.^[2][3]

The following is a list of major events that occurred in the world during the timeskip, specifically regarding the Three Great Powers:

• Sakazuki vs. Kuzan: The two admirals battled over the title of fleet admiral on Punk Hazard. Sakazuki was the victor and became the new fleet admiral of the Marines after Sengoku retired while Kuzan resigned from the Marines. Sakazuki then moved Marine Headquarters into the New World, while Marineford became G-1^[4]
• Payback War: A war between the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates and the Blackbeard Pirates took place 1 year after the Summit War of Marineford. The Blackbeard Pirates were victorious and Marshall D. Teach became one of the Four Emperors.^[4][5]
• New Warlords of the Sea: Buggy, Trafalgar Law and Edward Weevil take the empty seats left by Jinbe, Marshall D. Teach and Gecko Moria.^[6][7]
• Rocky Port Incident: An incident which involved Trafalgar Law, Koby and Marshall D. Teach that occurred on Hachinosu. Law and Koby gained new positions as Warlord and captain respectively, while Teach removed Ochoku from his position as head of Hachinosu and took his place.
• World Military Draft: Due to a heavy loss in manpower as a result of the Paramount War, a worldwide military draft was enacted to fill in the Marine's numbers. During which, Issho and Aramaki joined the Marines as admirals, earning the names "Fujitora" and "Ryokugyu" respectively.
• Former members of CP9 uncovered a plot in where Spandine was scheming some kind of takeover with former Level 6 prisoners from Impel Down as well as parties from the Underworld. They attacked and destroyed the parties involved and for their efforts were reinstated as agents of Cipher Pol.^[8]

• The Straw Hat Pirates began their training for the New World.
• The Rosy Life Riders, Hatchan and Bartholomew Kuma protect the Thousand Sunny.
• Sabo regains his childhood memories of Ace and Luffy.
• The Big Mom Pirates took over protection of Fish-Man Island from the Whitebeard Pirates.
• The Sun Pirates and the Fire Tank Pirates join under the Big Mom Pirates, with Capone Bege marrying Charlotte Chiffon and conceiving Capone Pez.
• One year ago, Kuzan joined the Blackbeard Pirates as the Titanic Captain of the tenth ship.^[9]
• The Kid Pirates fight with the Red Hair Pirates and lost, with Eustass Kid losing his left arm from Benn Beckman.^[10]
• A few months prior to the Wano Country Arc, Kouzuki Momonosuke and four members of the Nine Red Scabbards arrive in Wano Country from twenty years in the past. While Kikunojo began investigating their enemies, the remainder of the party departed Wano in search of comrades, during which the Beasts Pirates began chasing the escapees.^[11]

• The TV special 3D2Y: Overcome Ace’s Death! Luffy’s Vow to his Friends is the only major story to take place during the timeskip.
• The events of the fourth chapter of Shokugeki no Sanji occur during this period.
