There are several assignment chains that reward duty officers upon completion.

Colonizing the Exploration Clusters[]

These duty officers are rewards for completing the Colonization assignment chains in the Exploration Clusters.

• Completing the “Renown” assignment in each cluster awards the Rare duty officer listed below.
• Renown duty officers can only be gained once.

• Achieving a Critical Success on the “Support” (or the “KDF counterpart”) assignment awards the Very Rare duty officers listed below.
• It is possible to obtain multiple copies of the same officer by repeating the assignment.

“Instigate Defection” is unique in that it awards duty officers from the opposing faction on success and critical success.

• These duty officers are Bind on Pickup and from their own pool, so the only way to obtain them is from this assignment.
• It is possible to obtain multiple copies of each by repeating the assignment.

Reminiscent of Guinan, this is a congenial El-Aurian bartender of your very own.

• This bartender is not bound and the assignment rewards her regardless of outcome.
• Due to the unique way the assignment is handled it might be quite difficult to find it though.
• Duty officer is the same for both factions.
• This duty officer can only be gained from the assignment once. Since she is not bound however, you could probably just purchase another from the Exchange.

• Can be randomly rewarded from Request R&D Assistance, obtained from the Personnel Officer at Starfleet Academy or Klingon Academy. This is the only way to potentially have MULTIPLE copies of this duty officer on a single character.
• This duty officer was initially earned by players who maxed out the old Crafting system prior to Season 9.5. He could also be earned by Delta Recruits who have reached Level 1 in any R&D School.
• This is one of the duty officers capable of crafting the R&D: Aegis Set.
• This duty officer is bound.

These duty officers are exclusive to the Task Force Omega reputation store, unlocked upon completing the relevant Store Unlock assignments (one assignment each for Rare and Very Rare duty officers).

• These duty officers are bound.
• Before Season 7, these were obtained from Commander Roxy at Deep Space 9 for [Encrypted Data Chip]s that were rewards from doing Special Task Force missions.

Phoenix Prize Pack[]

Rare-quality tokens from Phoenix Prize Packs may be used to obtain duty officers rewarded from previous events and giveaways. Unlike the original event rewards, Phoenix purchases are character-specific and not account-wide.

These duty officers are purchasable in the Promenade on the Lohlunat Summer Festival event area of Risa. These duty officers have unique active roster abilities that are not found on other duty officers.

• These duty officers are bound.
• Both Rare and Very Rare duty officers are purchased using [Lohlunat Favor]s, obtained during the Lohlunat Summer Festival (though sometimes they can be bought on the Exchange as well).

Gamma Recruitment[]

Jem'Hadar and Jem'Hadar Vanguard character created from June 5 to July 18 2018 on PC and from July 24 to August 28 2018 on Console got access to Dominion Transponder assignments which reward special duty officer after completing certain tasks. The [Ferengi Lock Box] has a chance to drop a [Holonovel Storage Device] which rewards one [Holonovel Code Fragment]. Using this fragment will prompt the player to start a new Duty Officer Assignment called “Decrypt Holonovel Code Fragment”. This assignment will randomly reward one of nineteen Hamlet themed photonic duty officers. All of these duty officers are Uncommon or better quality.[2]
