Category:Bangladesh Liberation War

For a quick list of Bangladesh related articles, see List of Bangladesh-related topics. Thanks. --Ragib 04:53, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!You created a new category of Indian revolutionary freedom fighters (that, at present, contains judt one article - Azad). A similar category already exists as Category:Revolutionary movement for Indian independence where revolutionaries like Azad are already listed.

This category contains the article relating to individual revolutionaries as well as their actions like Chittagong armoury raid and Alipore bomb case.I think we do not need any further categories. And if we start such a category, please take care that all entries relating to individual revolutionaries are listed under both Category:Indian revolutionary freedom fighters and Category:Revolutionary movement for Indian independence. Thank you.--Dwaipayanc 16:55, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to put an image to the article

Shyamsunder, there is no difficulty to do so. For attaching an image to the article which are already used on another article, click on the image and go to the image page. Use those images which are in proper license, like GFDL, PD, CC. Let's say, Image name is Example.jpg. If you want to put this image on the article right side that seems not sp big in size, use - [[Image:Example.jpg|200px|right|Image title]. If you want to put a caption with the image use - [[Image:Example.jpg|thumb|150px|right|Image title]]. To learn more about wiki please click on a particular article and see how it has been used on it and follow the same. Regards, Shyam (T/C) 07:32, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

Hi Shyam, I just want to point out that Category:Rajputs is already a sub-category of Category:History of Rajasthan. If you put the History of Rajasthan category on pages already in the sub-category, that is a double entry, both needless and not good. In general you should see the subcategories to be sure of this in other cases also. Thank you and see you around WP. ImpuMozhi 14:41, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Film category

Dear Shyamsunder, I strongly question the usefulness of your category "Films with a strong Muslim background". That phrase makes less sense the more one thinks about it. What is a strong Muslim background? The Taj Mahal? If I filmed a dance about Krishna and the gopis in front of the Taj Mahal, would that be a film with a strong Muslim background? What if all the cast and crew are Muslim but the movie is about Mirabai? Since Fida and Sarfarosh are about terrorism, are they films with a Muslim background? What about any film with a Muslim in it?

I have seen the term "Muslim social" used for films about the domestic lives of Indian Muslims. Then there are historical films which will often feature Mughals. I'm not sure one should conflate Muslim socials, if that's a useful term, and films about Mughals. Nor am I sure that even these amended categories make any sense. Perhaps we should be discussing this over at WP:INCINE, where there are many editors interested in films. Zora 03:03, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spacing

G'day Shyamsunder, I just read your stub on Mohsina Kidwai and helped clean it up a bit. A common problem, spacing between periods and new sentances was placed two or three times in your article. An accounting puzzle

I do a small amount of bookkeeping/accounting work myself, and my partner and I just solved a rather tricky situation. We were then curious how many other accountants might have been able to solve it.

The situation is this:

At the end of its fiscal year, a company is moving its books from one file to another in their chosen accounting software that does not have an easy splitting method. This means that any outstanding cheques that were written in the old fiscal year and will be cashed in the new year will need special consideration.

Let us assume a very simple case in which for one given bank account at the end of the fisal year has a balance at the banking institution of $10,000 and there is one outstanding cheque of $2000 causing the accounting software to have a balance of $8000. The balance carried forward to the new file is $8000 (also this opening balance transaction is deemed reconciled in the new file).

Now we assume that a number of transations have taken place in the new fiscal year having a total effect of -$1000, and that the books need to be reconciled again at this point. With the bank claiming $9000 and the books saying $7000, how can you reconcile? CG janitor 01:38, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, nothing needs to be done .When the outstanding cheques are presented for payment at the banks , the balance with them will automatically come down to match with the balance as in the client's bank book/ledger in accounting software.Till then the outstanding cheques will appear in the bank reconciliation .This is not an unusual situation. The difference between the balance as per the client's books and the banks' books may also be caused by the cheques/instruments deposited by the client but not yet credited/collected by the bank.In that situation the balance as per the bank would be lower than what you get in your account books ( accounting software).

If you indeed wish to have the same balance at both places at any point of time you may simply reverse the outstanding transactions before/ on that date and pass journals again in next period/year-or simply do a reversing journal-most accounting software do provide reversing journals functionality.

Hope this helps. Shyamsunder 14:12, 08 July 2006(UTC)

Jat clans

Hi Syamsunder, a number of Jat clans have been listed for deletion, see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Abusaria

I request to go there and vote note to delete. It will be a bad trend. Kindly do some thing. The clans are are common in many religions and we get history searched and expanded this way. THANKS

Hi, Shyamsunder,

I really appreciate your’s & LRBurdak’s efforts. We tried our best to save article regarding Justice Kan Singh Parihar. Don’t worry, Sun always shines, immature cloud comes and goes. That is very little thing.

I would like to bring it to your attention that Ambuj.Saxena has altered “List of notable people from Jodhpur”. I think without having knowledge of the notable people from Jodhpur he is deliberately vandalizing the list. He has removed titles from the names of people listed. In my opinion that is totally wrong because these people are well known with their titles. It may be confusing because many other people may have similar name. For example Major Shaitan Singh (Param Veer Chakra) is popularly known as Major Shaitan Singh not just Shaitan Singh.

PS:- I really appreciate you and Mr. LRBurdak for your creative writings.

Thanks. (Jodmar 01:27, 31 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Ganeshbot articles

Shyam, Thanks for your help with merging Ganeshbot articles. I have a few suggestions for you,

  • Please do not move sandbox articles to article space. Copy and paste them.
  • When merging sandbox information to the main article, please add the infobox too.
  • When you need to disambiguate, use braces instead of comma. See Una (Gujarat). If time permits, add dab links.
  • After a merge, Please strike out the city on User:Ganeshbot/Not created page and add the original artice link.
  • Please read the introduction section on User:Ganeshbot/Not created page.

Please let me know if have any questions. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:49, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help Please

I need a help from you. User AED has listed an article (biography) about me for deletion. Following that there has been comments like "non-notable" "exam-cram" "limited shelf life". How am I to oppose it. If it is an article, we can remove that citing lack of sources. I was pushed into editing the article only for the past 2 days after that. Initially the reason given for delete was Not-notable. When I gave enough proof that I have written 6 medical text books [1] they have changed the accusation into Vanity. And one user have voted three times for it to be deleted. Another doctor from Delhi (may be some one who knows me in real world and does not like me) has gone to the extent of telling that no one knows about me

I understand that I should not write an article about me. You should note that the article was not written by me. Hence I am not able to comprehend the Vanity Issue. My problem is not with deleting or keeping it. It is regarding to the mud sligning that has been happening in the AFD Debate of various individuals (as well as corporates / Organisations etc) after nominating the article for debate in the recent past and unfortunately I am a victim now. If it is an article, we can remove that citing lack of sources. But the baseless insulting comments made here will stay.Doctor Bruno 13:57, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sikhism

Perhaps you can answer a few questions; I noticed you have contributed to the Sikhism pages.

I am having a difficult time understanding exactly what Sikhism is. After reading almost every article about it on Wikipedia, it appears as though Sikhism has very little structure. The religion basically encompasses different things from different religions, renamed using Indian terms. Other than being a "good person," there seems to be little substance. I am an Orthodox Jew. Hope to hear from you soon. (DRosenbach 01:22, 22 August 2006 (USA))

Vijaya Mehta

I noticed in the Vijaya Mehta page you added some information on Pestonjee. I would like to commend you for the information on a great film but unfortunately it is a word-for-word copy of the teaser available on the Netflix site and in all probability a copyright infringement. Therefore I have deleted it. Feel free to expand the Pestonjee article in your own words. Take care. --Antorjal 02:35, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding DYK

Hi Shyamsunder, I just saw your entry to DYK. The nomination is very interesting but unlikely to go through:

Thanks for inserting the demands for citations in some places in Indira Gandhi. However, you have asked for citations for such statements as "Acharya Kriplani and JP toured the North calling for her resignation.", and many many others. Some of these have dozens of citations available following a simple google search. I urge you to insert citations yourself if at all possible. Also, about the Congress High Command article: Note, the decision was summarised by the closing admin as 'keep' and 'merge'. The term is mentioned on the CWC page, so the merging is complete. I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Bhanu Prakash Mirdha, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Bhanu Prakash Mirdha. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. A merge has been proposed with the Jatropha article. I keep trying to explain that the article is about India's energy policies and not about the plant! So, thanks! Hello, Not sure about the Marxist journalist tag. She is socialist, but whether that makes her Marxist is debateable. She was/is a Janata Dal member, but never CPI. Mikeslackenerny 08:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC). It is per her left leaning views/writings as I read in the article .Shyamsunder 20:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She is definately left-leaning. Not sure if that qualifies her as Marxist. That would term pro-Left American writers to be Marxist too, na? Will read up more on that and comment again.

Some help

Hi, I saw your old edits to issues related to Direct Action Day and would like to get your attention to a matter of serious misrepresentation:

A new user named

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Teabing-Leigh

has started a bunch of bullshit POV forks based on unreliable pakistani propaganda websites and afrocentric pseudohistory propaganda

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandhi%27s_racism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahomed_Ali_Jinnah%27s_11th_August_speech http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandhi%27s_views_on_race

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_League%27s_Civil_Disobedience_Movement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_League%27s_Direct_Action_Day

are both POV forks of

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Action_Day

Some of them have been AfD'ed, but others remain.I suggest in the strongest terms that these articles be deleted immediately. The references cited in Direct Action Day by this editor are falsely represented by him and not in the citations given (I am well-familiar with them). In contrast, he has removed numerous references that did, in fact, exist before that were reliable.

In particular, this website: http://www.cwo.com/~lucumi/gandhi.html

cited by him across these numerous articles,

Is an Afrocentric pseudohistory website with no mainstream credibility.

Thanks for your attention. Kjartan8 12:37, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Wiki tool

Hi. I saw the query you left at Bhadaniji's talk page. There is such a tool available, I don't know if it still works. See this. You have to ask Interiot to generate a report for you. - Aksi_great (talk) 05:40, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bhadaniji, Kaise hai aap. Can you please help me.I wish to have the lists of all the artilces I started and of all the categories I created. Is there any wiki tool to get these lists .If not what is the best way to compile such lists in short time. I did not keep record and I now wish to put the names of such articles and categories on my user page. Shyamsunder 17:24, 09 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Main thik hun (I am fine). Talking to you after a long gap perhaps. I think perhaps there is no such tool fully operational right now though I am not sure - please see above the comments by Great. However, in case, you have kept the pages your created / initiated under your watchlist, you may see them one by one and, and identify the same and note them on your user page for your record. In case, you have missed them to keep under your watch, it is going to be a difficult task as you will have to see all your contributions from the very beginning, and identify the pages started/ initiated by you. In the process, you may forget (like many others) about some pages which you may have started/ inititated. But, it is ok - everyone forgets such things including me. Finally, such a list may give a sense of satisfaction, and may prompt one to develop the pages started/ initiated by you - but, even if one is able to have a complete list of such pages, one should not worry: one should continue to value add to wikipedia. An editor has nominated List of postal codes in Rajasthan, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of postal codes in India and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Rubaiya

Hi. Very nice article. There is much scope for improvement though. Can you split the article into different sections? The lead is ok for now, I will try and expand it later. I have thought of the following sections - Background (which will give history of terrorism in Kashmir up to that point), Kidnapping, Negotiation (the Kidnapping and Negotiation sections could be combined for now) and finally the Impact section. The impact section is very important as it is said everywhere that this incident lead to a drastic rise in terrorism in Kashmir, and that if the government had not given in at that point then things would have been different. Also, please add references to the sentences where needed as I have done in the lead. I have the article on my watchlist so I will keep on copyediting as you expand the article. A tag has been placed on Hanuman Singh, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Notability of A.S. Atwal

A tag has been placed on A.S. Atwal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. UtherSRG (talk) 07:38, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Speedy deletion of Hubli Maidan controversy

A tag has been placed on Hubli Maidan controversy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Bihari Muslims

Hi. I notice you reverted my redirect of Bihari Muslims into Stranded Pakistanis. These articles cover the same ground so there should only be one; I had added to Stranded Pakistanis the content from Bihari Muslims that was not already there. I don’t mind what name the combined article has — I used Stranded Pakistanis only because that article is longer than the other and is linked from more articles. Changing the name can be discussed on its Talk: page and/or at Requested Moves, but having two articles is a Content Fork. Regards, jnestorius(talk) 12:52, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello... There's a discussion happening to decide the future of Stranded Pakistanis, Biharis or Bihari Muslims. These three are surely going to be merged (no use having three articles about the same thing). But the final title may not be something you'd prefer. Since you have worked so hard on this group of people, I guess, you'd like to say a thing or two here, where the discussion is taking place. Aditya(talkcontribs) 13:35, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Achievements of Indian Authors

Hi Shyamsunder, I find that the you have deleted the entire paragraph about the achievements of author Vir Singh which comprises of his contributions to various history conferences. It is simply not the participation but his contributions in form of articles published in these conferences is important. This shows their notability also. These are simply facts. The interested history scholars can consult the proceedings of those history congresses or conferences for further consultations. These have links to various other articles. More over This article was scanned earlier and put for deletion but the administrators decided to keep the article in totality. Hence deletion amounts vandalism. Similarly you have deleted from other author Pema Ram. If somebody feels some facts are unwanted it should be discussed first on its talk page. I have put notes on the talk pages of these articles. I therefore restored the deleted content from these articles. Do not delete without discussion. Hope for your positive contributions. Notability issues

Shaym, Regarding the notability tag added here, you are requested to explain the reason why tagged it at the talk page of the article. The tag clearly says that The best way to address this concern is to reference published, third-party sources about the subject. Don't you think that The Hindu & Indian Express are reliable third-party sources?. The subject is a notable topic in Kerala, apart from online references, a bunch of offline sources also available. So there is no doubt about notability at all. --Avinesh Jose  T  06:40, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Fakhruddin T. Khorakiwala. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Geography of Rajasthan, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.rajasthan-tourism.biz/geography.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:59, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Geography of Rajasthan

A tag has been placed on Geography of Rajasthan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 10:07, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

EDITING NON-BRAHMIN SITES: WARNING

Mr Syhamsunder please refrain from editing sites that do not relate to any Brahman personalities. We do not allow duplicate Brahman to edit any of our websites. This is a free encyclopedia and i have lot of corrupt information against presidents like Shankar Dayal Sharma or Rajendra Prasad. Please note i am in New Zealand and give me a call if you want to discuss. Bebrahmin (talk) 10:00, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manu Sharma page contents deleted by redirection

Some days back you had voted keep on the WP:Articles_for_deletion/Manu_Sharma While that AfD was not resolved (1 delete, 2 redirect, 2 keep) it was closed and the article was redirected by an administrator. I have been fighting this step for some time. Pls do look at the debate at the bottom of Talk:Manu Sharma if you get a chance. Also consider these pages: Christine Beatty, Lee Boyd Malvo. I am beginning to wonder if this is discriminatory against India because many people haven't heard of Manu Sharma. HELLO Shyamsunder Please save Pakistan occupied Kashmir article from deletion. The article has been hijacked by Wikipedians of Pakistani origin who are demanding its deletion. Remember, once deleted its gonna be extremely hard to recreate it. This is not a wasted attempt because all claims in the article are well sourced. Please consider the following:

1. Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir is the term used by the Indian government, and for legal reasons followed by the media and Indian publishers

2. The term is POV on Wikipedia, but it is real, because it exists, and cannot be *deleted* away.

3. Redirecting PoK to Azad Kashmir is not the solution. Geographically, Azad Kashmir is a small region of the area labelled as PoK. Therefore, territorially speaking, it is inherently false.

4. Additionally, the term Azad, which means free, is also a POV. Free in what sense? From Indian administration?

5. As a responsible encyclopedia, it is our responsibility to mention what the term means, the area under it, who has dubbed the name, usage of the name, the reasons why it is called, and legal usage in India, Pakistan, and major countries/groups. The page should not be more than two-three paragraphs long, and must point to the articles on Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir, the Kashmir dispute, Azad Kashmir, and FANA.

Wikipedians of Pakistani origin want this removed and replaced with just the Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas article because it speaks the truth. Anybody with an account can vote. If none please create one right away and vote for keep.

PLEASE DELETE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE VOTING. a similar warning is on wp:india page

Please oppose the page to be deleted. It is requested by Pro Pakistani Wikipedians who want all trace of it to be vanished. Do so immediately!. Key in keep followed by reason.|}}

Murder of Swami Lakshmanananda

Your article Murder of Swami Lakshmanananda is reading a POV against Christians. Please state purpose of article. Quotations from people in Ashram are not serving any encyclopedic objectives. Also, there are serious varifiability issues. Overall a poor editorial work. Please re-write. I can assist if you need help. Recordfreenow (talk) 05:46, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had created this article solely by shifting the material from the Swami's page. Can you please help preserve it in present form. Thanks Shyamsunder (talk) 21:09, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
