Jesús Blancornelas, etc.

Hey CJA, I'm starting work on a few articles I thought might be up your alley: Jesús Blancornelas and Héctor Félix Miranda, and the magazine they founded, Zeta (magazine), which did a lot of reporting on the Tijuana cartels. I'll be expanding each (or in Miranda's case, creating) over the next 2-5 days depending on my daughter's schedule. If you happen to be around and don't have anything else on your plate, feel free to drop by! I'd be glad to have your input. Khazar2 (talk) 18:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Terrific--see you there, Khazar2 (talk) 18:30, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Wow, thanks for the speedy additions--I tuned out for a while for a ballgame and was amazed how much you got done in the meantime. I spun off a stubby start to Héctor Félix Miranda with what we already had, added a little bit, but he'll need some substantial expansion on the investigation into his murder, etc. I might also work on Adela Navarro Bello some as long as we're doing this much research into Zeta people. Anyway, thanks for the help, and I'll try to pitch in more myself tomorrow-- Khazar2 (talk) 23:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
I also started an expansion of Francisco Ortiz Franco, another murdered Zeta editor; if you have any good sources on him, you might pop in there too. That magazine's got quite a history. Khazar2 (talk) 20:34, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Perfect. I'll be finishing Héctor Félix Miranda's article and then jump at Ortiz's. Thank you! ComputerJA (talk) 20:37, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Sounds good. If my daughter keeps sleeping I'll start in on Navarro, the new Zeta editor. Khazar2 (talk) 20:39, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I gave Navarro's article a decent start, though the lead still needs to be rewritten to be a better summary. Luckily it already had a number of good sources in it, it just didn't draw much on them. Feel free to take a pass, too. Later tonight or tomorrow I'll try to also add a paragraph to the Zeta article about her editorship, particularly her continued pursuit of Hank Rhon. Thanks so much for the help with these! It's amazing how much we've gotten done in the past 24 hrs. Khazar2 (talk) 21:56, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay! I'll try to summarize the intros and see if I can expand on the assassinations too. Thank you for inviting me to help you out in this project; it's been a good experience. See you around. ComputerJA (talk) 23:06, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm having a good time with it, too. =) Khazar2 (talk) 00:07, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I suggest you put in a section of published works, which at least lists his books. Cheers! 7&6=thirteen () 19:08, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

"Published works" is what I've used in the past. Sorry, I didn't mean to be officious; I hope you do not think me overbearing. I just thought that the man was an author, and this seems logical. But see Ernest Hemingway, John D. Voelker, Arthur Asher Miller, Herman Melville, Voltaire or Tawfiq Canaan, for example, all of which use differing formats. I suggest that you choose the format that works best with your particular subject. Form follows function. 7&6=thirteen () 19:37, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Don't worry about it. I actually think it is a very good idea. Feel free to drop by at the article and change/add info. Thanks! ComputerJA (talk) 19:45, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Nice job. Are there English language editions? That would be good to include, too. 7&6=thirteen () 22:32, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't think so. In any event, here's another approach on listing books which I suggest you take a look at. George Simon (artist and archaeologist) Best. 16:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
And thanks to you both for adding another section. Amazing how far this article has come in a few days' time. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 16:32, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
This is a collaborative process. It works. Great article about a truly notable journalist. 7&6=thirteen () 16:34, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I think the article should have a quotation form the song. I think we should use a "ref group uppperalpha" for it. See Frank Murphy for how that works. Spiffs up the articles real nice.

Just a suggestion. BTW, if you should get a DYK, I would appreciate being listed as a contributor. Thank you. 7&6=thirteen () 17:41, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. Now see if you can add the other level of footnote. Surely there is something (as an aside) that we can incorporate into one. 7&6=thirteen () 20:37, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I cannot figure out how to do the footnote. Unless you mean doing exactly the same footnote as you did. :( ComputerJA (talk) 20:51, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I'll put in a footnote. You can move it, change it whatever. OK. 7&6=thirteen () 20:57, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Hope that helps. The content might even be useful, but I leave that up to you. It's really your article, and I have embarked on things of which I am remarkably ignorant. Nevertheless, now you can see the mechanics. 7&6=thirteen () 21:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I also did a further test edit, which you can access through the history page. 7&6=thirteen () 21:11, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Brilliant Idea Barnstar
User:ComputerJA, I am assigning a large group of students to write biographies about the most publicized journalists from the Mexican journalists' list. We would appreciate any input you have to offer us. I particularly like the way you organized the information on your list and it became the inspiration for a list I'm working on about Syrian and Somalian journalists who died during their civil wars. You're doing some excellent work in this area!!! Crtew (talk) 20:23, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the barnstar! I need to start buying some books if I really want to finish this list, LOL.
By the way, I think the book In the shadow of Buendia: the mass media and censorship in Mexico (2nd ed.). University of Michigan. 1989. ISBN 1870798260. {{cite book}}: Invalid |ref=harv (help) is an excellent source to understand the background of why journalists were/are getting killed in Mexico. Take care! Security policy of Enrique Peña Nieto

Somedays ago I suggested (probably mistanken) that you was a "cleaner" because you deleted some information on some pages of Wikipedia in Spanish because of " falta de información verificable". But now I see your "accurateness" and "demand for verifiability" is vanished when you write about the "FUTURE POSIBLE Security policy of Peña Nieto". The article contain some "impressions and "value judgments" that are debatable. The information is presented in form of objective information instead of what it is "political declaration of intention". I consider your work is in the line to be viewed as "partisanly oriented" one. Now I feel the need to supervise the accuracity of your contribuitons not only in Spanish Wikipedia but here too :( --Davius (talk) 23:36, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

(WP:TPS comment): I have no opinions about the article in question, but on the English Wikipedia, following a user you disagree with from article to article to "supervise" them can be considered harassment. A better first step would probably be to go the article's talk page and make specific comments about the areas that appear POV to you. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 00:00, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

To Davius and Khazar

  • Thank you, Khazar2. I got pretty tired of Spanish Wikipedia, since many users (including Davius) seem to favor unverifiable information. I pointed out numerous times in my Spanish talkpage where he was incorrect in allowing POV updates on politicians' articles. I also grew tired of the fact that many pages of the Mexican cartels have very few citations (like es:Caballeros templarios (cártel), to name a few), so I took the time to add some "Citation needed" and erase original research. Only to have them reverted by him for no good reason or no reason at all.
Besides, the article on the Security policy of EPN contains analysis from experts in the field, and I tried to include BOTH sides of the argument as best as I could. I also included the security policy of Andrés Manuel López Obrador [1] and would have created an article of its own if he would have gotten as much coverage in that aspect as EPN. Clearly, I'm not here to promote a political agenda. Thanks again for your concern, Khazar2. See you around. ComputerJA (talk) 00:51, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:LosZetas-logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:LosZetas-logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:13, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi ComputerJA

  • Hey, thank you! This mean a lot to me. And thank you for your contributions in the MDW article. Are you interested in this subject? I've been in search of a co-editor since the last one retired, haha. ComputerJA (talk) 03:50, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Co-editing would mean editing "with another or others (in this case, me)" in articles pertaining to the MDW.
Feel free to add your input in the articles! I think your areas of interests can serve the project pretty well. ComputerJA (talk) 05:51, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Star award

Thanks! I did not expect it, nor am I sure I deserve the HONOR, but thanks. Likewise, it is good to know there is someone with the knowledge and wisdom as yourself to ensure that truthful information goes into the Mexican drug war series. Thank you for the star, and thank you for being around with such watchful eye. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 22:37, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

As a follow up, I recently edited Héctor Beltrán Leyva with additional infobox fields. I was using the article as a "test case" for an enhanced version of the template Infobox Criminal which I had recently modified. This newer version of the template should take care of most, if not all, of the deficiencies that plagued the older Criminal infobox template (and which led some (myself for example) to use the more generic, but also more flexible, Infobox Person template). I have noticed that many of 37 big-time drug lords (List of Mexico's 37 most-wanted drug lords) still use the Person infobox. Feel free to edit the data I used to populate the new Criminal infobox in the Héctor Beltrán Leyva article: I picked Héctor Beltrán Leyva for testing, but could have picked anyone else. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Enedina-arellano-felix.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Spartaz Humbug! 18:47, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

  • I am aware that there was a previous picture with copyright violations. Nonetheless, I had uploaded this one with the right rationale and permission and was deleted without discussion (and when I had left a message in the picture's talkpage). I'll take it for review. Thanks. ComputerJA (talk) 05:50, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Edit war on climate and weatherboxes

I am working on improving the climate section of cities but however, an editor complains that I am using non-standard colours. Although I respect his/her opinion, when I keep telling the editor why I use these colours, he/she just won't listen and goes his/her own way. The colours are only to make the climate data easier to read but the main thing is the data and source. How do you handle this situation because I feel like this could escalate into a heated debate?Ssbbplayer (talk) 23:40, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

I am not completely aware of the standards for the colours on climate here on Wiki, but if the debate gets too heated, take it HERE. Make sure to stay cool and try finding a resolution that makes both of you guys satisfied. Be sure to use the dispute resolution request I linked as the last option, but don't be scared to use it. BTW, if the other editor is simply "not listening" to you, then he isn't following the guidelines. Remind him that you guys need to discuss it through. Hope this helps, cheers. ComputerJA (talk) 08:25, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

The main thing to worry about is data for the climate data and whether the source for the climate data is reliable. I am not aware about the standards of the colours but the most important is the data. It is not my primary concern of which colour it is, as long as the data is not changed or vandalized. Thanks for the help.Ssbbplayer (talk) 21:25, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Yeah. Thanks for standing up for the climate data. It is by far one of the most under-edited parts of Wikipedia. I hope you find a solution; contact me if you have any questions. Cheers. ComputerJA (talk) 03:28, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Country of birth does not equate to nationality

If anything that source would indicate he is american, place of birth does not indicate nationality, for example have a read of Australian citizenship#Acquisition of Australian Citizenship - Birth in Australia, without knowing more about the citizenship rules of Vietnam taken in conjunction with any renunciation he might have made to obtain other nationalities you can't say. Mtking (edits) 23:35, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

One question. Since the Jus soli often determines nationality, and because I provided a citation that says Cung Le is Vietnamese, what sources do you about South Vietnam's citizenship rules? ComputerJA (talk) 23:47, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Relying on Jus soli is not good, for example it would have Julia Gillard the Prime Minister of Australia as British as she was born in Barry, Wales, she would have renounced her British Citizenship to run for the House of Representatives, my understanding is though at any time she could reverse that and take it back up, but calling her British would be wrong. As for the source you need, that would depend, you could use the one you quoted to argue for American, but given the debate that surrounds this then something directly quoting him as what he takes his nationality to be would be what is IMO needed. Mtking (edits) 00:10, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

I wasn't aware of the huge debate going on. I'm confused but I'll allow you to keep it as you wish. I don't feel strong about the whole thing either way. ComputerJA (talk) 00:34, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

really nice work. i have one question - some sources say her first husband was a mayor as well... did you find this to be true? i also couldn't find anything about her work as a physician. Decora (talk) 05:11, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes, José Sánchez Chávez was the mayor before his wife. It says that he was the "anterior alcalde" ('previous mayor'). I'll add the information.
Some Mexican sources say that the guy was believed to have ties with organized crime... I'm not sure if I should add that information because it might be pushing for speculation. Maybe when some arrests are made new information will come out. ComputerJA (talk) 06:25, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
thanks for clarifying. i think an English source mentioned that speculation too... it was the LA Times link. but i would like to know more about this before writing about it - for example, who exactly was claiming this? I don't see much info out there. Some English sources are also reporting her second husband has gone missing. Decora (talk) 07:02, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

According to El Universal, after the attack on the couple in January 2010, Sánchez Chávez reportedly "knew exactly where the threats were coming from."[4] This other article, which is boring and hard to read even for me, implies that his husband and his brother had ties with one of the two cartels in the state. I'll see what I can do to take care of this. This article is about María Santos, not about his husband. I don't want to start drawing the dots myself ... I'll wait for the police to draw them first (if they ever do). That's just me, but do you think we should include the information?

As for his second husband, he [Nereo Patiño Delgado] and María Santos had separated 15 days before the attack, but he was called in to declare already. [5] The source does not say if he is a suspect, however. ComputerJA (talk) 09:03, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

thanks for the information, i appreciate it. i dont really think its worth it to include it because it is too vague - what does "has ties" mean? the LA times implies that Maria had to deal with accusations against accusations about her husband - did she? is there a quote anywhere of her doing that? i havent found one. having come off the Alistair McAlpine article i have become very cautious about including anything even remotely speculative in a biography - i prefer to wait until several news outlets have confirmed something. people have too many agendas and is too easy to get mislead. thanks again. QPQ Review

QPQ Review- That means you need to review someone else's DYK nomination to make sure it meets the requirements. I just started reviewing too, so check out Wikipedia:Did you know/Reviewing guide and give it a good read. Also look at how some more experienced editors do it on some DYKs. Then find a good DYK proposal that you feel comfortable with and go through the various needed checks. I'm really sorry you had such a long wait to have this article reviewed, but I had to fail the article. The major issue, and the reason I have failed it, is that it has problems with Close Paraphrasing. I would recommend carefully reading the article on close paraphrasing and rewording the Arturo Guzmán Decena article. When this has been done, feel free to renominate for GA. Also, if you want to ping me when you re-nominate, I will have a look if it would help. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it have it reassessed, or simply to renominate at GA. Sarastro1 (talk) 15:28, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Questions about DYK

Hi! Could you help me understand the rules? I reworded the hook a bit after you already reviewed it. Now I wonder if I was allowed to do it. And another question, is a person allowed to change another person's nomination (to alter the hook)? --Moscow Connection (talk) 14:00, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes, you're allowed to reword the hook, so don't worry. In fact, the hook might be reworded differently with or without your consent if the reviewer believes it is necessary to do so. But if you want to change another person's hook, I'd recommend for you to post your proposal in the comment section of the template. People might get offended if you do it without their consent. Hope this helps – I'm kinda new to DYK too. ComputerJA (talk) 17:55, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Zane Plemmons

ComputerJA, Could you take a look at a new article in AFC: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Zane Plemmons? If you have any suggestions for improvements, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Crtew (talk) 16:31, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Given the rationale Alexrexpvt gave, I'm guessing that turning the article into a biography would work a lot better. I was preferring the current title of the article, but lets see if turning it into a biography would work. Journalists who have been murdered/kidnapped while reporting are definitely notable, so the article will probably pass. If you'd like, I can help out by expanding the article. Are you okay with that? ComputerJA (talk) 22:51, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
ComputerJA, Sorry, It was first rejected as a biography and then I changed it to "Disappearance..." based on Khazar's advice earlier today. So you both are thinking the same way on this and I think that this approach can work. So this time, it will go through as "Disappearance..." I'm ok with you adding anything you feel it needs and appreciate the offer. There is another one about Cordero that has been declined. The article on Arturo Barajas López (1966? - 19 August 2012) and José Antonio Aguilar López (1986? - 19 August 2012) was accepted.Crtew (talk) 23:47, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm done with Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/María Isabella Cordero. I can still expand the "Context" section, but I don't want to go too much off topic either. Let me know if everything is okay so you can resubmit it for review. ComputerJA (talk) 05:18, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Nice clean copy that reads well! I like what you did with it. Did you find anything at all about public relations professionals being a target of the drug war. In her case, this is a reason for her significance. Have you seen anything in Spanish on this topic? Thanks for lending your skills and knowledge on this one. Crtew (talk) 14:49, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks! I'm not aware of any reports about public relations professionals being targeted by the cartels. The closest thing I can think of are politicians killed, but not for cases like that of María Isabella Cordero. To be honest, I doubt she was killed for her profession; there are rumors that she was involved in an affair with a top narco, but who knows. It seems that the murder will remain unsolved. ComputerJA (talk) 16:53, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. The addition of the photo is a nice touch and the re-review was very fast! I'll notify the student who worked on this. Crtew (talk) 20:02, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Have you seen the links I added to the articles that were accepted. I can list them out if you like.

The articles that were rejected so far:

There are a few more in the process of Afc and I have a few more that I'll need to edit before they can be submitted.Crtew (talk) 21:07, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Los Ántrax

 — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:02, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of journalists killed in the United States is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of journalists killed in the United States until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.

ComputerJA, This template was left on my talk page and may be of interest to you as you have a similar list. The proposer hasn't spelled out his argument fully for why he thinks it's not needed. Crtew (talk) 19:06, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Infighting in Los Zetas

Hello! Your submission of Infighting in Los Zetas at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! BlueMoonset (talk) 03:31, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

  • No, that's not what it said: "I would strongly recommend finding a third-party reader to help you with paraphrasing." From the phrasing, I think Nikkimaria was clear that it's up to you to find that third party—it's your article and your submission, and therefore your responsibility. You may have Wikipedia colleagues who understand close paraphrasing and can go through the article for you. If not, there's the guild of copy editors, though they generally have a backlog and do not respond quickly. However, I'm afraid your lack of response in the subsequent week, and failure to respond there before you left despite this reminder, may well result in your nomination being closed before you return. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:29, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Disappearance of Zane Plemmons, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Castroville and El Mañana (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Articles in development

CJA, Welcome back! I was going to add more to your list a couple of days ago but I saw that you already beat me to the punch :-)

No, nobody is working on Mora. Here's a progress report:

What we still have in the Afc line is Marisol Macías (I'm not sure what we're supposed to constructively learn from the editor's comment).

Another "One Event" editor decline on the Afc for Norberto Miranda Madrid, which could use your eyes.

Part way prepared is José Luis Romero but it was not submitted because of quality issues. Another that is part way completed is User:Crtew/Regina Martínez, which you can feel free to move to your user pages if you wish. I think there is more to learn about her through Spanish media. She was friends with a number of crime reporters in the Veracruz area. What is tricky about her situation is the controversy about whether it was a robbery-murder or a drug-related murder. The DA says one thing and the community of journalists believe another. I'm uncertain about whether we're catching the subtleties of the Spanish, and it would be good for you to look at this. Her article is important.

All we have for the Disappearance of Mario Segura are references. That was a total scratch this time.

Crtew (talk) 23:02, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Great. Thanks for letting me know. I just added them to my watchlist, but I hope I get to expand them before I return to school on the 14th of next month. I'll be around if you need anything, and if other articles are being created, please let me know. Cheers. ComputerJA (talk) 05:49, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
    • Computer JA, Your "Did you know?" entry was a bright idea. It looks like you got over 5,000 page views on my last look! I learned several things from you this semester. The list you set up was fantastic for setting up a format. I also didn't know about the fair use of photos that you have so successfully implemented. I'm awarding you a barnstar (see below)! Thank you for all your help! I would like to add you as a country specialist to my syllabus in the future.

REPLY 1: Thanks for the barnstar! I'll be more than glad to help out in the future, and especially when it comes to Spanish-language sources. BTW, Khazar2 got me into the DYK stuff. It's a pretty cool idea if you want to get a few other people to proofread your newly created articles and reach the Main Page. There are some rules you have to follow but it's pretty straightforward. I recommend you to use it in the future!

Next year I will be studying at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education as an exchange student. I also have plans to get an internship at El Norte newspaper. I'll have a lot more access to many sources not found on the web, just in case you need them. ComputerJA (talk)

    • I won't be teaching the Introduction to Mass Communication course during spring semester. So there will be a one semester break between entries until I return to the course in the fall. As I see journalists ready to assign, I may start some pages in my user space -- setting up a shell -- if you want to look from time to time in my subpages, and you do feel inclined to take up an article, it wouldn't bother me if you did. My own interests will take me into the worldwide network of press freedom & rights organizations. I'll keep in touch, Crtew (talk) 01:29, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

REPLY 2: Thank you. It was a pleasure to work with you, too! To be honest, I wasn't that much into press freedom in Mexico until Khazar2 and I worked on Jesús Blancornelas in August. Then when your project started, I looked more into it and was fascinated. I'm really grateful that you started it and that we all got to work together. But let's hope the List of journalists killed in the Mexican Drug War doesn't get too long... :-) Happy editing and stay in touch. ComputerJA (talk) 02:04, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
I hereby award ComputerJA for this editor's contribution toward making our Wikipedia Academic Project Fall Semester 2012 a big success! With appreciation from the faculty and students at the University of Southern Indiana. Crtew (talk) 01:34, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

ComputerJA, it turns out there were significant issues with this nomination you approved, including getting the date of the supposed end of the world wrong and some definite close paraphrasing. Perhaps, next time, you might want to get a second opinion as to whether you'd located all the overly close material, and whether you might have introduced any new problems (such as "excepting", which I think should have been "expecting"). BlueMoonset (talk) 23:42, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi ComputerJA. I'm terribly sorry for getting the date wrong in the nomination and article - I'm rather embarrassed as it was a silly mistake but as I'm sure you can appreciate it is quite easy to overlook. This is only my second DYK nomination in 5 years of editing. Nevertheless it is fixed now and I also believe I have addressed all of BlueMoonset's concerns regarding close paraphrasing. I would appreciate if you could weigh back in on the discussion at the nomination. Freikorp (talk) 07:52, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Reportero

Don't know if you saw, but this [6] premieres on Monday. Looks like it'll be available for streaming after, too. I'll bring the popcorn. -- Khazar2 (talk) 03:23, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

  • Good stuff. Thank you for letting me know! :-) So it airs on 10 p.m. Monday, right? I'll see if I can make it to Brownsville tomorrow. If you decide to make an article of the documentary once it gets reviews, let me know so I can help. Thanks again. ComputerJA (talk) 21:46, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
I think so, not sure about Brownsville's time zone, though. Not sure if I'll be able to catch it on TV or have to stream it later, all depends on Little Miss Khazar's mood (as usual =)). Creating an article on it is a good call--I'll see if it gets a few reviews, etc., to justify creation. But it seems likely it will. I'll keep you posted. -- Khazar2 (talk) 02:05, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
