From the moment you unlock the marines squad in Aliens Dark Descent, you may notice a Kill That Bastard message on the screen. In our guide, we explain when this message may appear, what the command Kill That Bastard means and what are the optimal situations for using it on the battlefield.
Marines default behaviour
- The marines squad led by you in Aliens Dark Descent operates autonomously by default. It means that soldiers independently select targets to attack without you having to mark enemies with a cursor.
- The above rule has 2 exceptions. The first one is selecting commands from the skill menu - each of them requires you to specify the area, direction, or target of the attack.
- The second exception is when the marines are hiding behind covers. The marines will not leave the cover and start attacking until they receive the appropriate command.
When and how to use the Kill That Bastard command?
The text Kill That Bastard may appear when hovering the cursor over an enemy within the squad's field of vision. It means focusing fire on a given opponent to kill it faster. This is important in situations when:
- You are fighting with xenomorphs and you want to stop the quickly approaching monsters. This is particularly important when the given xenomorph is one of the dangerous, elite variants.
- You want to prevent the enemy attacking from behind or from the flank. This often happens during fights with cultists, who may try to attack the marines hiding behind a cover.
The Kill the Bastard command is free, i.e. it does not use up command points. You should use it in almost every bigger and/or more difficult battle.
