Housemarque Studio is an extremely talented team, which cannot be denied an amazing flair for arcade-style gameplay. Returnal, in turn, is the largest and probably the best project of this team to date. The creators tried their hand at the aesthetics of SF horror. As a result, we got the psychological (and personal) drama of the astronaut Selene, who relives the first moments after a cosmic catastrophe after her death.

Returnal throws us into a whirlwind of utterly crazy action. It's a very intense third-person shooter with roguelite elements. This means that we often die during the game and have start over. Each session practically starts with reset equipment, and the procedurally-generated environment changes the layout of the interiors. The creators have also prepared a diverse set of weapons that promote using different tactics. The team didn't forget their roots and implemented properly conceived mechanics straight from arcade and bullet hell games. During the game, we have to be constantly on the move and avoid hundreds of bullets fired by numerous opponents.

Housemarque's latest creation is a game that looks great, sounds great and offers a breath of fresh air in the segment of hackneyed AAA games. The perfect gameplay loop provides many hours of high-pace fun at a crazy pace.

Feels most comfortable in the editorials section at GRYOnline, and sometimes he also writes reviews. A fan of all kinds of culture, who reaches for works from both the top and the bottom shelf. He likes to immerse himself in niche games and productions that are hard to define unequivocally. Appreciates an analytical and critical approach when dealing with cultural works. Prefers unique, strange, visually crazy games that boldly tackle more interesting narrative issues. Addicted to high-octane productions, fighting games, big robots and arcade. Huge fan of Grasshopper Manufacture studio. He likes to catch up on forgotten "hidden gems" from years ago, especially from Japan. Interested in games and the people behind them. Strongly addicted to cinema. A huge fan of Mads Mikkelsen and Takeshi Kitano. He also loves Inio Asano's manga and Tsutomu Nihei's aesthetics.
