Oceanus is the second area in Hades 2. This is a watery area full of traps and environmental hazards, which you will visit after completing Erebus. This area is significantly more difficult than Erebus and requires your undivided attention. On this page of the guide, we described Oceanos, its unique features, notable enemies and mini-bosses.

Features of Oceanos
Okeanos is the second location in the game, waiting immediately after Erebus. Compared to the first region, it significantly increases the level of difficulty, introducing many traps and tougher opponents, aiming to teach you to pay attention to the environment.
Oceanos begins in chamber 15. Chamber 23 is the last empty room before the boss fight. In Chamber 24 you will face the boss of the location, Scylla. Chamber 25 is the passage to the next region of the game, the Fields of Mourning. In the region, you will also encounter two mini-bosses, which you can find after passing through the doors marked with a small skull.
One of the features of Oceanos is closed doors - in some chambers you will encounter closed passages. If you are not satisfied with the rewards offered in the already opened chambers, you can open a closed passage to another chamber with a different reward. This will summon new opponents that you must first defeat. You will only learn the exact reward behind closed doors after defeating your opponents.
The main special feature of Oceanos is the presence of traps. You will find them in almost every arena - they deal high damage and cover a large area. You have to watch out for them - otherwise, they will quickly end your journey. Paying attention to your surroundings can also reward you, as traps also injure enemies.
There are four types of traps in the region. These are:
- Leaking pipes - placed on the walls of the arena. If the pipe is hit by an attack, either yours or the enemy's, it will start venting hot steam in a long, straight line.
- Explosive tanks - large, cylindrical tanks that, after receiving a certain amount of damage, explode over a large area, leaving hot steam behind.
- Ventilation outlets - small ventilation grilles located on the floor. If you step on them, after a few seconds they will start to emit hot steam.
- Water jets - placed on the walls of the arena. After some time, they start shooting pressurized water, which does not cause damage, but stuns and knocks you back.
Enemies in Oceanos
Enemies in Oceanus also pose a greater challenge than those in Erebus. These are:
- Water Whispers - A variation of the Whispers from the previous region. They are more aggressive and faster, attacking with several turns in a row while moving towards you.
- Sop-Spindles - a variation of the Spindles from the previous region. Like the latter, the former are designed to block a certain area of the map with their rotating lasers, but their lasers have much longer - they are still vulnerable to ranged attacks, and a single swing interrupts their laser.
- Pinheads - small fish with sharp heads that attack in huge hordes by charging. Stop them with your Cast - you can bind them with a regular Cast or kill them with the Omega Spell.
- Lurkers - tough enemies wielding tridents, attacking with forward thrusts. You can trap them with a cast and get rid of the remaining, weaker enemies first, because they are unable to attack you from a distance.
- Hippos - enemies that shoot series of slow, homing, exploding projectiles. When you kill them, they also explode after a while - remember to move away.
- Shellbacks - enemies wearing shells. When hiding in their shells, they are immune to damage and become vulnerable only when they lean out to shoot projectiles that bounce off the floor. Wait for the right moment and attack when they emerge.
- Sea serpents - enemies popping out of water tanks, shooting bursts of bullets or exploding grenades. It's worth getting rid of them quickly, especially if they appear nearby.
Materials in Oceanos
In Oceanos, you will collect the following unique materials:
- Lotus - pink flowers picked by hand, without any tools;
- Lime - material mined with a pickaxe;
- Cattail - seeds collected with a spade and then planted at the Crossroads.
Special chambers in Oceanos
A special encounter in Okeanos (i.e. the unique chamber, where the exclusive NPC for a given region will give you unique bonuses, is Narcissus. He will give you a gift of your choice - each gift consists of a set of two items, one for permanent progression, the other for temporarily strengthening you during the journey. The gift can consist of, for example, Centaur Heart and 50 bones or 100 golden crowns and 6 pieces of silver. Therefore, it is worth visiting him, unless you care more about the reward given in another chamber.
After entering any chamber, there is also a small chance that you will be stopped by Chronos. The next room will turn into Asphodel, a lava-filled region from the previous part of the series. To get out of the chamber, you must touch the golden ball in the arena and then hold on to the golden circle moving on the floor until the indicator in the corner of the screen is fully charged. The chamber is dangerous and filled with enemies throwing bombs - you can step out of the circle to avoid the explosion. It will slow down your progress a bit, but it may save you from death.
How to defeat the Deep Serpent?
Deep Serpent is one of two mini-bosses you will encounter in Oceanos - it is also a much more common fight that you will encounter more often. Boss is an enhanced version of the sea serpent, accompanied by several Sop-Spindles. Get rid of them first, because their attacks take up a lot of space in the arena.
The enemy has three attacks:
- Melee attack - Deep Serpent uses this attack only when you get close - it covers quite a large area around the enemy. Move away after landing a few blows to avoid damage.
- Fission Missiles - Deep Serpent fires a slow projectile that splits into five sub-projectiles, each of which splits into another five. It is easier to avoid damage if you are far away.
- Explosive projectiles - Deep Serpent fires explosive projectiles that fall from above onto areas marked with red circles. The explosions cover a large area of the arena, so quickly try to find a safe place.
Getting rid of the Spindles quickly will make fighting and finding safe places in the arena much easier. Most of Deep Serpent's attacks can be avoided by keeping your distance. When you get close to deal damage, remember to quickly dodge or run away when Deep Serpent swings for a melee attack.
How to defeat Uh-Oh/King Vermin?
The second and much rarer mini-boss in Oceanos is the King Vermin known from the first part of the series, now known as Uh-Oh. Despite its tiny size, this rat inflicts high damage and is very dangerous.
The opponent has three attacks:
- Charge - Uh-Oh freezes in place for a moment and then lunges out in a straight line towards you, trying to bite you. Move aside to avoid the attack.
- Jump - Uh-Oh jumps upwards, creating a small shockwave upon landing. Move away from the boss to avoid damage.
- Reinforcements - Uh-Oh summons several enemies that shoot explosive mines.
Get rid of the summoned enemies as quickly as possible, because the arena is full of traps that can be triggered by their mines. Try to stay in the center of the arena - the boss is small, and when fighting near the walls you may not notice his attack animations. Keep your eyes on the boss - as long as you're attentive, you should be able to handle it.
