Metro Exodus: First contact with the locals - walkthrough Metro Exodus Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 25 January 2022
Taiga is the next region you will visit in Metro Exodus. This beautiful land hides a lot of dangers. This chapter in our guide to Metro Exodus focuses on Artyom's adventure in Taiga.
After the cut-scene where Olga saves you, move forward and head to the cabin. Artyom takes a crossbow. This is your basic weapon here - you have lost all your gear. Go to the place presented in the picture above. You will find a bandit - save or kill him. This decision has an impact on the chapter's ending - it will also determine Alyosha's fate.
Walk on the beam and head towards the X. Soon, you will come across a destroyed bridge - a few locals will be standing on the other side. Wait for them to stop talking and then go left. Keep moving through the ruins until you come across a rope. Use it to reach the other side.
You reach an old construction belonging to the Pioneers. Just like in the previous chapters, your approach to the locals will determine the chapter's ending and your companion's fate. Avoid fighting with enemies or stun them if you want to keep Alyosha in good health.
Offensive approach
The enemies here don't use powerful weapons - they all fight with a crossbow. Use this to your advantage - kill enemies close to you with a knife, shoot those that are farther away.
You have to reach the tower. Use the rope to leave the Pioneers' village. Artyom reaches the other side. Watch a cut-scene presenting a large monster - a mutated bear.
Run straight. Soon, you will find a watchtower - climb it. Cross the bridge and then use the rope to slide down. A single pirate is in the cabin - either kill or stun him.
Approach the ladder on the rocks and go up. Collect items and then go down, into the cave. Lower the ladder and then go through the caves. You will find more resources. Artyom reaches the opposite end of the cave - he exits near a lake.
Stealth approach
Before you start fighting, remember that your enemies aren't well-equipped soldiers. These people are carrying only crossbows. You can approach them and stun without fearing that they will shoot you down.
Remember, if you don't plan on stunning enemies, you have a perfect weapon for eliminating opponents. Crossbow is great for stealth kills.
Avoid larger groups of enemies by moving along the fences. This way you will be able to reach the tower unnoticed.
Eliminate every enemy you come across on the stairs. Do that, and you will reach the top unnoticed.
