A couple days ago, Expedition 15 called Aquarius was released in No Man's Sky. The update introduces one of the most requested features – fishing. Now, you can travel through the different planets and catch some water creatures. If you want to complete an expedition, you must progress though series of milestones. Scales of Fire is one of the milestones which causes a lot of problems for players.

How to Complete Scales of Fire in NMS

Scales of Fire in one of the milestones, that you will complete during the Expedition 15. To unlock it, you must catch the legendary octopus called Angler. However, it’s not that simple – you must go to the specific planet and have a lot of luck. The latter is especially important.

So, what do you have to do? First you must travel to Cayett Major in system Biychiem – it’s a planet of the 5th rendezvous. Next, you must find any body of water. Here you should start fishing and waiting patiently. There are some tips that can help you catch the Angler faster.

  1. Use legendary bait. Many people suggest that Bionic Lure is a really good choice.
  2. You should also use Lost Angler's rig.
  3. Numerous players believe that fishing in deep water also increases the chances of catching Angler.
  4. You can also try your luck with Automated Traps.

Unfortunately, catching this legendary animal is still heavily RNG-based. So, even if you follow all tips presented in this guide, you can still have problems with completing this milestone. Like I said earlier – you have to be patient and hope that the next fish that you catch will be this legendary octopus.
