Red Dead Online - Fans Disappointed with New Update and No Development of the Game
The latest Red Dead Online update got negative reviews. Players complain that it does not offer anything new, and the development of this game has practically stopped, while GTA Online gets fresh content all the time.
The fans of Red Dead Online (the online mode introduced by Red Dead Redemption 2) clearly did not like the newest update. Players complain that the patch is very slim and the development of the game is too slow.
New Year's update debuted the day before yesterday. It introduces temporary bonuses for activities such as Land of Opportunity, To Arms and Gang Hideouts. It also makes it easier to obtain various items. The whole problem is that there actually is nothing new here and everything revolves around things that have been in the game for a long time.
Players have expressed their frustration on Twitter, labeling their tweets with the hashtag #SaveRedDeadOnline. Fans complain that Rockstar has practically quit any further development of the game, despite earlier promises.
Situation of RDO is even worse when you compare it to the constant evolution of Grand Theft Auto Online. This one is constantly developed and regularly receives new content that keeps players interested.
Fans' bitterness over the condition of Red Dead Online is understandable. Rockstar Games delivers only some events built on old elements, while GTA Online regularly receives extensive updates with new content, such as the recent The Contract, which introduced a celebrity problem-solving agency - including rapper Dr. Dre right in the middle of the story - as well as offering three weapons, seven cars, more than 300 cosmetic items and a lot of improvements.
Of course, there's no denying that Grand Theft Auto Online is simply much more popular and profitable, so it's no surprise that the developer is supporting it more strongly. Nevertheless Red Dead Online deserves better, and it's no wonder fans are feeling abandoned.
