Saving Red Dead Online; Community Gets Disillusioned Again
The chances of new content in Red Dead Online are evaporating, and fans have almost completely lost hope for anything more than server support.
Red Dead Redemption 2 players have a lot of concerns about the online mode of their favorite game. While Rockstar's other network mode, GTA: Online, can not complain about the lack of attention, Red Dead Online has not received decent content for a long time and it does not look like this will change in the near future.

As admitted in an interview for IGN by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, he is aware of the hashtag circulating online, which was intended to attract the attention of the developers. While fans succeeded in this goal, the response they received is far from satisfying.
In fact, Zelnick didn't provide any details, only assurances that the servers will continue to be supported.
"When asked if Take-Two intends to continue long-term support for Red Dead Online, Zelnick responded that that's the plan." [Update 14:45: After publication Take-Two Interactive clarified that the comment "referred only to the online servers" and that any future content updates would be up to Rockstar]," reads IGN's article.
... but nothing will be done about it, for now
The moment fans learned that Take-Two had not forgotten about RDR2 their hopes were momentarily restored. Finally, new content! - one would think. However, the situation changed very quickly when the update visible in the above quote appeared. It was not well received by the fans.

Take-Two contacted IGN to confirm that it only intends to keep Red Dead Online online, apparently it's up to Rockstar to update the game.
We're back to square one again... (sigh)
It never ends...," wrote commented Ben.
"The company has reached such a low point that I'm not even surprised by their response anymore. They could at least sell RDO to a company that would care about the community and treat it better, but we know that will never happen. #SaveRedDeadOnline," wrote SinisterJune.

RDO's questionable future
In view of yesterday's information, it's hard to be positive about what will happen next with the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2. There's no denying that it has its faithful fans, but the western is still a long way from the commericial success of GTA 5.
This, of course, translates into how RDO and RDR2 are treated by the developers. It is logical that it is much more profitable to develop the game that brings the highest profits.
Nevertheless, it is still uncertain what Rockstar will ultimately do with RDO, and hope dies last.
