Timberborn: Materials and resources - list Timberborn - guide, tips
In the game Timberborn you can collect many resources. On this page we describe the most important resources: food, water, logs.

To develop your beaver colony in Timberborn, you'll need to gather the most important materials available on the map. This page explains all the resources and products obtained by processing them in workshops and production buildings.
Water
One of the most crucial resources required to satisfy your beavers' basic needs is safe drinking water. You can obtain such water by building a water pump. This structure, however, can only hold a limited amount of water. Stockpile water in tanks to weather the drought.
The small water tank can store 30 units, while the huge tank can hold up to 300. To build a large water tank, you'll need 30 boards and 20 gears.
Food
- Blueberries are harvested from shrubs that grow near the district center and throughout the map. Blueberries need 12 days to regrow, and each shrub provides 3 units of this food. The forester can plant blueberry plants, while the gatherer flag is used to collect the resources.
- Chestnuts grow on chestnut trees, which can grow wild or be planted by a forester. This type of tree requires 24 days to grow and it takes an additional 8 days to produce chestnuts. A worker from the gatherer flag will pick 3 chestnuts in one go.
- Maple syrup is extracted from maple trees, which can be found on the map or planted by a forester. This type of tree requires 30 days to grow and you'll have to wait an additional 12 days to harvest the maple syrup. The resource is collected by workers from the tapper's shack (not to be confused with the forester's hut). Each harvest will net you 3 units of maple syrup.
- Carrots are a vegetable that can be cultivated at the farmhouse. Carrots grow in just 4 days, and one field generates 3 carrots that are ready to eat right away.
- Sunflowers are another farmhouse crop. It takes 5 days to grow and yields 2 sunflowers at harvest, which are immediately ready for consumption.
- Potatoes are another cultivated vegetable available at the farmhouse. Its growth takes 6 days and it nets a single potato per harvest. Raw potatoes are not suitable for consumption, because they first need to be properly cooked in a grill. Processing 1 raw potato results in 4 grilled potatoes.
- Wheat is a crop that can be planted at the farmhouse. It takes a long 10 days to grow, and after harvesting you will get 3 pieces of wheat. Wheat then needs to be ground into flour at the mill. The bakery can make 5 loaves of bread with just 1 unit of flour. 1 unit of flour and 1 unit of maple syrup give you 3 maple pastries.
- Cattail is an aquatic farmhouse crop. Its seedling needs to be partially submerged in water, and it takes 8 days to grow. From a single field you will obtain 3 cattails. The resource should be milled into cattail flour and then baked into cattail crackers in a bakery. You will get 4 crackers from 1 unit of cattail flour.
- Spadderdock is another plant grown at the aquatic farmhouse. The seedling needs to be partially submerged in water and it takes 12 days to grow. Each seedling will provide you with 3 spadderdocks. 1 unit of this resource can be converted into 3 grilled spadderdocks at the grill.
Logs
The log is a basic resource required to:
- build almost all structures,
- manufacture planks in the lumber mill,
- make paper in the paper mill,
- provide a fire source in buildings such as the grill, bakery, smelter and engine.
Logs are obtained by workers employed at lumberjack flags. The game includes a variety of trees from which you can harvest different amounts of logs. Trees can be planted by a forester and are divided into:
- Birches - they take 9 days to grow and cutting them down nets 1 log;
- Pines - they take 12 days to grow and cutting them down nets 2 logs;
- Maples - they take 30 days to grow and cutting them down nets 8 logs;
- Chestnut trees - they take 24 days to grow and cutting them down nets 4 logs.
Keep in mind that a lumberjack can cut down even a shriveled tree trunk standing on dry ground. These will provide as many logs as a regular tree would.
Planks and treated planks
Planks are produced in a lumber mill, and 1 log is required to produce 1 plank. The lumber mill needs a power source, such as a water wheel, power wheel, windmill or engine.
Planks are used to:
- build many structures and facilities,
- manufacture gears.
In the wood workshop, by adding resin extracted from pine trees, you will get treated planks, which can then be used to build certain structures and to extract scrap metal from the mine.
Gears
Gears are manufactured from boards in the gear workshop.This building first needs to be purchased for 100 science points and connected to a power source. Gears can be used to build the following: large water tanks and all other production buildings. Gears are also necessary to extract scrap metal from mines.
Scrap metal and metal blocks
Scrap metal can be obtained from metal ruins (collected by a worker from the scavenger flag) or from mines. Afterwards, scrap metal can be turned into metal blocks at the smelter, then used to build various objects, such as a printing press, a carousel, fences, bridges and monuments.
Paper
Paper is produced in a paper mill from logs. From one log you will get 2 pieces of paper. The paper mill, like other workshops, needs a connection to a power source. It costs 250 science points to unlock this building.
Paper is used for:
- manufacturing books in a printing press;
- producing explosives at an explosive factory;
- building certain objects, such as a beehive and a large windmill (available in the Folktails faction) or a scarecrow.
Explosives
Explosives are made from paper at the explosives factory, which you will unlock for 400 science points. To build the factory, you need 30 boards, 30 gears and 30 metal blocks. This building requires connection to a power source.
When you start producing explosives, they will go into storage. To use explosives, you first need to click on the explosives icon from the landscaping tab, then set it in the desired location. Once the explosive is built by workers, it then needs to be detonated.
If none of the workers come to build the explosives, make sure they have adequate access to the site.
