The year is 1931. Prince Tokugawa Yoshinobu is 94 years old and holds absolute control over Japan. Remnants of the Meiji era's culture can be seen around the city, but scientific technology and Japanese esoteric cosmology Onmyodo are also developing, exuding a sense of modernity. Yet lurking behind the glitz is Kuchinawa, a dissident group planning the assassination of the prince, and effectively the fall of the regime. Tasked to extinguish these dissidents is Nue, the government's secret executioner group. Yukimura Sawa, who works for this organization, suffered from an early age at the hands of the Kuchinawa boss. Her entire family was murdered and she dedicated her life to avenging their death.

The first four episodes received an early screening at a special event on March 27, 2021, at Science Museum in Tokyo. Participants were chosen through a lottery held via Bushiroad Music Passport. Additionally, each episode was streamed on Hulu and Crunchyroll a week ahead of its TV broadcast and its release on other streaming platforms, starting on March 31, 2021. The regular TV broadcast started on April 7, 2021.

Boilerplate plot but loving the aesthetics & feel

First off being a sucker for asian oriental aesthetics & also dsytopian themed future, the theme from Joran really hits home for me on that aspect
Though in actual plot was flimsy & had weird pacing; revolves around standard template for revenge with some espionage-like agents with supernatural power, a shaky political situation with conspiracy thrown in
That aside story was quite bitter, did managed to tug a heart string or two

Not the best plot but I really like the artstyle & setting; particularly FL. Kimono clad, calm demeanor, elegant and soft spoken, pure appeareance but behind it is a strong combat capable yet fragile woman, with a scarred history searching for the present
That and the OP ED seq, and themes of kimono, karakasa, lipsticks, blood & snow

If u are into asian oriental culture, dont mind slow deliberate pacing with avg occasional sword fights; could be a good watch over the evenings. 6/10 for me

It has pretty graphic, but the story is a bit dull and somewhat predictable.
