Nuofo

Nuofo is a planet located in the Balrosh system in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It is the homeworld of the humanoid Nuofon species and appears blue from space.

History[]

In the 23rd century, the twin planets Nuofo and Hytar were united, but their president was overthrown and shortly afterward the populations began a civil war.

In 2266, when the Federation starship USS Enterprise visited this star system, they were attacked by Hytaran spaceships who thought they were Nuofons. James T. Kirk attempted to visit Nuofo as a mediator, but his exploration rocket was shot down in space. A four-man landing party then beamed down to Nuofo, but they were apprehended.

When more ships attacked the Enterprise, Kirk launched an all-out assault on Nuofo. An assault force landed in the capital city. Irf surrendered and agreed to host a peace conference. Peace was short-lived, however, when Nuofo's city was suddenly struck by missiles from a mutual enemy, Desta. After the Enterprise drove off a Destan fleet, both governments agreed to hold democratic elections and were reunited under new President Juf. (TOS comic: "The Third Party")
