Okay, so it's not quite Mortal Kombat. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a complex title. Imagine dozens of the most famous video game characters - not just those owned by the Japanese publisher - competing on multi-level battlefields. Each character has their own fighting style and combos. In total, the basic version includes seventy-four battle masters, including cuties such as Pikachu or Toad, as well as real tough guys like Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series or Link - the protagonist of The Legend of Zelda saga.

Aside, of course, from the multiplayer battles, allowing players to duel while sitting next to each other the couch or over the Internet, the title also offers a single-person adventure mode called World of Light. Initially, we play as just Kirby, who has to find and free the remaining characters, imprisoned by an unknown entity known as Galeem.

The Super Smash Bros series has been a flagship Nintendo console title since 1999, when the first installment launched on the Nintendo 64. Ultimate is the fifth installment of the series and is by far the richest in content. You can either play using the Switch's default Joy-Cons or with a regular controller. You can even purchase a special GameCube pad compatible with the Switch, which old school fans should appreciate.
