Sea of Thieves: Exploration of the world Sea Of Thieves guide, walkthrough
Last update: 13 July 2020
While sailing in the Sea of Thieves, you can also visit places that aren't associated with any active quests. When on islands, you will always find opportunities to replenish your stocks of cannonballs, bananas and wooden planks and you might sometimes even run into a treasure chest or a valuable vessel to collect.
When on the sea, look for a flock of seagulls circling over one point - it marks a location of a sunken ship. Diving there and searching the wreck will sometimes reward you with wooden planks and bananas only, but in some cases you might run into a chest with some gold.
Types of islands and locations
Outpost islands: here you can find cosmetic items, faction stands where you can purchase missions, the tavern and a place where you can replenish your stock of cannonballs, bananas and wooden planks. There are no treasures, animals and skeleton-pirates here. Note - you might run into other players here.
Regular islands: the most common locations in the game. Here you can find treasures, animals, as well as the weakest enemies.
Fortresses: fortified islands protected by skeletons that can fire at your ship from their cannons. Occasionally, a skull-shaped cloud appears over the area, indicating a public event - the appearance of a pirate captain with a key to the treasury.
Sunken wrecks: hidden locations where you can find sunken ships. Here you can find supplies and, in some cases, treasures. Note - the water is most likely guarded by sharks.
