Overview

The Word Processor (document editor) component supports locking or protecting a Word document from editing with four types of restrictions.

  • Read-only: Allows no changes in the document.
  • Filling in forms: Allows users to only fill the form fields in the document.
  • Comments: Allows users to only add new comments or edit an existing comment in the document.
  • Tracked changes: Allows users to edit the document, but all the changes are tracked. The tracked changes can be accepted or rejected only after unlocking with a password.

Read-only

This mode prohibits any modifications to the document content, ensuring that users can only view its contents without the ability to make changes.

Filling in forms

Users are permitted to populate the form fields within the document while other content remains inaccessible for editing. This mode is ideal for situations where users need to enter specific information into predefined sections.

Comments

In this mode, users have the capability to either create new comments or modify existing ones within the document. However, they are restricted from making direct alterations to the document content beyond commenting.

Tracked changes

In this mode, users can freely edit the document and all modifications are logged and tracked. However, these alterations remain visible until they are accepted or rejected. The acceptance or rejection of changes can only occur after unlocking the document with a password, ensuring the integrity of revisions.
