"Don't blame yourself, you survived. And the fact that you keep going out there is what gives the rest of us courage. I would have given up a long time ago if it wasn't for you." |
Future Mai (未来のマイ Mirai no Mai) is the one of the tritagonists of the "Future" Trunks Saga. She is the leader of the Resistance against Goku Black and one of Future Trunks' closest allies.
Mai assists Trunks and the others throughout the entire story arc. In the end, Fused Zamasu had merged with the multiverse itself, causing Future Zeno to erase it. She is one of the three survivors and now lives in the new future timeline where another Future Mai exists - thanks to Whis warning Future Beerus of Zamasu's Project Zero Mortals.
Appearance[]
Future Mai is a young-looking and tall woman with fair skin. She has big black eyes and long black hair with bangs. She wears a long, blue jacket along with yellow pants, black boots and a green hat.
At the end of the "Future" Trunks Saga, Future Mai wears the same identical green tunic outfit and belt her present self wears (the only difference is that she has dark grey leggings).
Like her main counterpart, her youthful appearance is actually the result of a youth granting wish that Future Pilaf made. A special chapter of Dragon Ball Super manga describing this event, shows that before her transformation Mai was a middle-aged woman, somewhat similar to how present Mai appears in the beginning of Dragon Ball GT.
Personality[]
In this timeline, Mai is shown to have developed into a much kinder and selfless person compared to her counterpart in the present timeline. She is shown to also be rather caring towards animals and others, giving food to Future Scratch (or possibly a descendant of Scratch) and insisting that Trunks eat the whole can of food given to him; along with the lives that were saved by her. Mai is also on good terms with Future Bulma and even Goku, despite their past history (respecting the former's knowledge, and the latter's fighting skills). Mai appears to be good with children, showcased by the young orphans Haru and Maki being comfortable around her.
Mai displays an aptitude for leadership, as she leads her troops and constantly boost their "morale" during their many fights against Goku Black, telling them to never giving up in the face of despair. After Zamasu completely eradicated the rest of humanity, she was overcome with grief and shoots at the bodiless entity continuously in anger until running out of ammo. After listening to Whis' plan to alter the future timeline, Mai becomes happy at the thought of seeing her friends again.
Future Mai has a good relationship with Future Trunks, even putting him over herself. After reuniting with Future Trunks and seeing him weep, Mai teased Trunks by saying that men shouldn't show their tears. Whenever a topic came up about her and Future Trunks' relationship, the two of them will deny it while at the same time blushing. Another instance was when Bulma was joking about her own future self becoming a grandmother, much to their embarrassment. However they both care greatly for one another and both are willing to risk their own lives each other. Though she is not as powerful as Future Trunks, Future Mai is quite brave willing to stand and fight against Goku Black and Future Zamasu using tactical assaults though she knows when she and the Earth's Resistance are out matched and tends to leave most of the fighting to more capable warriors such as Future Trunks, Goku, and Vegeta supporting them the best she can such as when she rescued the injured Vegeta after he had been defeated. Like Future Bulma, Future Mai is shown to have faith in the abilities of Goku though in her case it comes from her experience as a former enemy of Future Goku.
In Dragon Ball Legends, Future Mai finds herself caught up in the Tournament of Time in Age 780 in the period following the Tournament of Power as the Super Dragon Balls had yet to recharge following Android 17's wish. Fortunately she is able to survive thanks to her wits, well honed combat, and survival skills. She ends up forming a faction of the Earth's Resistance with the mysterious magic using swordsman Zahha, pre-Tournament of Destroyers Cabba, and Post-Cell Games Gohan (Youth), Post-Cell Games Piccolo. Together they intended upon helping Zahha's ally Shallot of Team Beerus in his battle with the Frieza Force, Turles, and Dr. Gero, though the battle was over before they finished getting ready. Fortunately, they learned of Dr. Gero's survival and his plans to create the Ultimate Warrior from genetic data he acquired from the Tournament participants. Future Mai having lived through the future timeline's Android conflict was well aware of how dangerous Dr. Gero and his creations are and had access to Gohan and Piccolo's intel on the Androids of the main timeline as well as the evil time traveling Bio-Android Cell. With this intel, they began searching for any incarnations Android 17 & Android 18 participating in the tournament, apparently realizing the Ultimate Warrior was actually a new incarnation of Cell who would require them to achieve his Perfect Form and with Dr. Gero and his army of Android 19s and remote controlled Android 20s, he would likely seek them out as well. Zahha ends up saving Shallot from Babidi's underling Dabura forcing him to retreat and recruits Shallot's assistance in tracking down the Androids with Future Mai providing support in a manner similar to Team Beerus' pre-Dragon Ball Bulma (Youth) even using a communicator to stay in contact with her team in the field.
Though Piccolo is later killed due to interference from Dabura and the New Cell succeeds in absorbing the Androids despite the best efforts of Zahha, Shallot, and Cabba, Future Mai continues to assist her allies as they prepare for the Super Cell Games with everyone putting their hopes on Gohan due to him having won the original Cell Games. After Gohan and Super Saiyan 2 Shallot succeed with the help of Bardock, Super Saiyan Cabba, Zahha, and even Mr. Satan, the threat posed by New Cell is over. Future Mai and her team go their separate ways as they continue their own separate line of investigation in order to protect the Earth which has become a battlefield for the tournament causing innocent civilians to get caught in the crossfire. However her team eventually confronts Shallot's brother Giblet who seeks to kill all modern Saiyans including Cabba as he is unaware of his status as a Saiyan from Universe 6. Cabba survives thanks to Zahha's Locational Phasing Spell and ends up joining forces with Team Beerus. Future Mai survives as well and with the rise of the Mastermind's group lead by the Mysterious Man who is behind the Dark Ki that was controlling Turles, Dr. Gero, and Babidi. Much like how she did during the conflict with the Zamases, she creates a base to protect civilians and tournament participants with Nail joining them and even Frieza Force Combatants such as Appule and Raspberry. She does her best to support Team Beerus and their allies such as Caulifla and Kale. However unbeknownst to her and her allies, Zahha who had survived his encounter with Giblet, was in reality a double agent the whole time with the Mysterious Man known as the Mastermind noting more than an illusionary phantom puppet that Zahha controlled with his magic. After Cabba defeats the remaining Galaxy Soldiers and Shallot reunites with them after having learned of Zahha's duplicity, he proceeds to break the bad news to Mai regarding Zahha. He reveals that Zahha was the one responsible for his amnesia and had been manipulating both Shallot & Giblet using Dark Ki and subtle manipulation to turn Giblet into a vengeful killer while manipulating Shallot by acting as his friend and ally. This was all so he could lead the twins into fighting one another in their Super Saiyan God forms to complete the Omnificence Crystal, a prototype Super Dragon Ball capable of granting any wish as long as it was supplied enough energy, which Zahha needed as part of his ultimate goal to destroy Universe 7. Mai is understandably in shock at the news but unlike Shallot who was utterly devastated by the revelation, Mai quickly recovers and notes she simply wants to know why he did all this and notes the only way to do that is to stop him first. When Shallot and Cabba express surprise at how quickly she took the news of Zahha's betrayal, she reminds them that she's older than all of them, indicating it is a sign of her maturity as she is older than she appears.
Biography[]
Background[]
Mai's life was exactly the same as her main timeline counterpart's until Age 767 when the world was put into ruin from the Androids. Just like in main timeline, she and rest of the Pilaf gang were turned into toddlers, because Shenron made them way younger than Pilaf's wish for youth intended. However, in this timeline their wish turned into the very last one that Shenron ever granted, as mere few minutes later Piccolo died and the Dragon Balls permanently turned to stone. The fate of Pilaf and Shu afterwards is unknown, but Mai managed to survive the Androids' and regrows into a young woman.
Following the Androids being destroyed by Future Trunks, Goku Black appears and causes destruction to the planet, Mai eventually became a member of the center of the organized forces that resisted against him, meeting Future Trunks in doing so. In one of his attacks, Mai is part of an effort to corner Goku Black, directing her comrades to fire more bullets at him and setting off a detonator that causes the buildings around Goku Black to fall on top of him, leading Future Mai to believe he was destroyed. However, Goku Black reveals himself to be unfazed by the attack and engages Future Trunks, knocking him down and charging at him as Future Mai launches a flash grenade to temporarily blind him while she aids Future Trunks in escaping the scene. She then nurses him, much to Future Trunks' reluctance. She calls him the only hope of the people of Earth and encourages him to continue fighting for their sake.[2]
Dragon Ball Super[]
"Future" Trunks Saga[]
When Goku Black first attacked, the majority of the population was destroyed. The survivors hid in underground bases and continued fighting by forming an organized resistance force. One of the persons at the center of the force is Mai. During the attacks the casualties of the resistance force kept on increasing. Future Trunks with Mai and the others tried to somehow corner Black but they failed. Future Trunks almost loses hope but Mai encourages it. She said, “You can't blame yourself, you continue to fight against Black. And that's why the rest of us don’t give up either”.
After Bulma gets killed, she was seen in a building room with several supplies with Trunks. When she asks where Bulma was, she was saddened to learn that she had been killed by Black. She is then with Trunks in her room, and asks if he wants to rest for a while, yet he insists that he is fine. Mai then offers him a can of meat, to which he eats, and then gives some food to the cat who appeared with them. Trunks offers her some of the food, to which she refuses at first, but then realizing her own hunger takes the food and eats the remainder of it. They then leave and prepare to go to Capsule Corporation. When they are near Capsule Corporation, she asks Trunks if he can sense Black's ki, to which he says he cannot. As they are prepared to enter the building, she along with Trunks see Black appearing. Trunks tells her to stay yet she refuses. Mai then tells Trunks she will be a decoy and shoots energy waves through her weapon at Black, to no avail. She is presumably killed by Black in an attempt to help Trunks escape, however it is soon shown that she was merely unconscious after Black's attack.
Black then proceeds to attack the base of the resistance. Future Mai is present at the time of the assault and explains to the soldiers that Future Trunks has gone to the past for reinforcements. Following Future Trunks' return to the future, he is reunited with Mai, who he is relieved to find alive and begins to sob as he recalls believing that she had died while in the past. Visibly touched by the gesture, Mai tells him it is not a male's place to cry and welcomes him back. She briefs Future Trunks on what has happened, including the casualties caused by Black in Future Trunks' absence, lamenting that she was unable to protect them, though she is consoled by Goku and Future Trunks. As Goku, Vegeta and Future Trunks prepare to confront Goku Black, she thanks Vegeta for feeding the survivors before he denies Future Trunks the opportunity to fight Black, citing what both he and Goku believe is Future Trunk's romantic relationship with Mai, both Future Trunks and Mai denying it. Mai waves a farewell to the three as they depart, saying she and the rest of the resistance will be waiting for them.
She later watches the fight through binoculars of Goku and Future Trunks against Goku Black and Future Zamasu, and gets very concerned when Trunks jumps in the battle. After the 3 Saiyans are defeated, Mai and the members of the resistance shoot tear gas at Black and Zamasu allowing her to rescue Vegeta while Goku and Future Trunks were saved by Future Yajirobe. She then pulls out the Time Machine from Trunks' pocket and sends the three Saiyans back to the past, much to Trunks' chagrin. Future Mai decides to stay in the future in order to protect the civilians and thinks to herself that Trunks needs to survive no matter what happens.
She later returns along with Future Yajirobe to the Resistance's base, when Haru and Maki asked her where Trunks was, she told them that he went somewhere far away but will eventually return, members of the Resistance approached her wondering what they will do since Goku and Vegeta have lost. Mai begins desperately to inspire soldiers telling them that they must survive and wait.
Later, she watches the weak soldiers and the civilians' weakened state and wonders how longer they will hold out. Suddenly, Maki and Haru approach Mai with dumplings telling her they got it from Future Yajirobe, she is persuaded to eat one of them, she then begins to think that even by herself she must protect their smiles.
After Goku, Vegeta, Future trunks and Bulma return to the future, a member of the Resistance approaches telling them Future Mai's life is in danger and that she was critically injured while holding Black to allow people to escape. Trunks gives a Senzu Bean to Mai in a CPR fashion and kisses her so it would go down her throat. Mai immediately regains consciousness and feels relieved that Trunks and the group have returned. Goku then comments that he has never given someone a Senzu Bean mouth to mouth, which Vegeta misunderstands and thinks he is talking about kissing. She meets Bulma and the two exchange pleasantries while giving Mai the necessary supplies for her and the Resistance. Suddenly, the trio senses Black's and Future Zamasu's ki and heads once again to confront them. Feeling concerned about Trunks' safety, Bulma reassures her everything is going to be fine. She later watches the clash between the Saiyans and their enemies, and she along with Bulma were very surprised to learn that Goku Black is actually Zamasu who used the Super Dragon Balls to switch bodies with Goku and killed him in the process.
She watches the fight between the Saiyans and the two incarnations of Zamasu, along with Bulma and Future Yajirobe. She later witnessed in surprise Trunks' new never seen before Super Saiyan form triggered after being told that he is ultimately the one responsible for their Project Zero Mortals. After Trunks holds Black and Zamasu back so Vegeta, Goku and Bulma can return to the past in order to figure out a plan to defeat the two, Vegeta gives Mai the Senzu Beans entrusting her to look after Trunks.
Eventually, Trunks is defeated and Mai takes Trunks back to the Resistance's base. After tending his injuries, Mai and the rest of the Resistance discovers Black and Zamasu's hideout and decide to raid it without relying on Trunks as she kept blaming herself that she is the reason he is getting hurt. Mai attempts to snipe Black with a magical bullet that has a much powerful force than a normal bullet given to her by Future Bulma before she died, but with no avail as the bullet managed only to knock Black down (however, she might have missed and hit Black's earring as it was seen shaking from the blast after he was knocked down). Black and Zamasu immediately fired a Combined Energy Ball at their location, Trunks arrives in time deflecting the Energy Ball and saving Mai in the process. Mai apologizes to Trunks and the latter told her to retreat as he is preparing himself to face the duo. During the fight between Trunks and Zamasu (after the former beat Black), Mai arrives once again to help Trunks and shoots at the rogue Kaioshin, but it had no effect, Mai and her troops evaded Zamasu's ki blasts attacks. After Trunks has been defeated once again, Mai quickly gives him a Senzu Bean, and the two of them meet up with Bulma who has returned to the future again along with Goku and Vegeta. Bulma inform them of their plan to seal their enemies with the Evil Containment Wave inside the jar, she asks Trunks to help her repair the jar that has been destroyed by Black's attack along with the time machine since he was good at solving puzzles using a super glue, much to his surprise.
Later, she informs Trunks and Bulma that Future Zamasu is coming towards their direction, Bulma suggests to use The Evil Containment Wave to seal him. Eventually, Future Trunks succeeds in sealing Zamasu inside the vase but the seal couldn't be completed as Goku forgot the talisman. The three of them struggled to hold out the vase to prevent Zamasu from escaping, but to no avail as Zamasu gets out barely breathing. Mai along with Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and Bulma had witnessed the fusion of Goku Black and Future Zamasu: Fused Zamasu.
Trunks then takes Mai and Bulma to a safe location away from the battlefield, Mai gives the two remaining Senzu Beans to Trunks wishing him good luck, She then helps Bulma in evacuating the survivors to her capsule garage. After the Time Machine is repaired, Bulma and Mai use it to transport themselves to the battlefield, Mai gives Trunks his broken sword which was retrieved by Maki, Trunks, thinking of Haru and Maki who have trust in him enhance his sword with his ki and heads to confront Fusion Zamasu once again. Afterwards, Future Mai along with the rest of the earthlings share their energy with Trunks enhancing his ki sword further, which was able to slice Fusion Zamasu in half destroying his body in the process.
Mai runs over to Trunks and tearfully congratulates him for his victory, but their happiness is short lived as Zamasu's essence and bodiless state start to cover the entire earth and eventually the entire universe in the alternate timeline with many of his silhouettes surround it. The bodiless Zamasu fires many Ki blasts at the remaining mortals killing every last one of them with the exception of herself, Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Bulma, Shin, and Gowasu. Overcome with grief over the deaths of the human population, Mai angrily uses her shotgun, firing several Ki blasts at the bodiless Zamasu until Trunks stops her from doing more, she then falls to her knees crying in despair with Trunks consoling her. As a last resort to eliminate Zamasu, Goku uses the button that Zeno gave him during their last meeting, Future Zeno instantly appears. After seeing the state of the world due to the actions of Zamasu, Zeno instantly destroys Zamasu along with at least all of Universe 7 but possibly the entire multiverse in that timeline, with Goku and the others using the Time Machine to escape to the past in the nick of time, thus ending the threat of the Project Zero Mortals but at the cost of the future timeline. Eventually, Goku and the others return to the past with Future Mai meeting her past self and Kid Trunks. Future Mai and Future Trunks become distraught as their own world is totally annihilated.
Beerus and Whis arrive and the latter explains that the two can return to a different timeline before Goku Black and Future Zamasu can start their plan, with Whis convinced that he'll make sure to convince the Beerus of that timeline to take care of the soon to be rogue Supreme Kai, thus preventing the same history from repeating itself again, however Mai and Trunks will find themselves in a timeline with their counterparts residing there as well. Mai and Trunks accepts it as she wanted to live with everyone she fought alongside with. The day after, Future Mai is given new clothes and supplies from Bulma, Future Mai and Future Trunks bid farewell to everyone including Vegeta and Gohan, with the two of them ready to start a new life in the new alternate timeline they are going to settle in with the time machine, looking forward for the opportunity to meet everyone in the past once again.

Other Dragon Ball Stories[]
Legends[]
Future Mai is among the various individuals that end up on Earth in Age 780 of the main timeline that get caught up in the Tournament of Time. Due to the chaos and damage that the tournament and its various participates have caused, Future Mai forms a faction of the Earth's Resistance to combat potential threats and protect innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. She recruits several like minded tournament participates such as Piccolo (who had fused with Kami and has fought Cell), Teen Gohan (post Cell Games), Cabba (from before the Tournament of Destroyers), and Shallot's old ally Zahha who joins up with Future Mai some time after he parts ways with Shallot after rejecting Beerus' offer to join Team Beerus. Thanks to Zahha, Future Mai is aware of the truth behind the Tournament of Time which was set up by Beerus and King Kai under the orders of a mysterious Mastermind who had kidnapped Shin thus forcing Beerus to form Team Beerus to investigate discreetly. Though Zahha did become aware of Shallot's involvement with the warring Frieza Force factions, he was unable to come to his assistance in time due to wanting to make preparations first and by the time he got there Shallot had already become a Super Saiyan and defeated Frieza. However he and Future Mai decided to focus on Dr. Gero who had escapes after his alliance with Frieza and Turles fell apart due to Super Saiyan Shallot defeating them.
- Zahha's Reunion with Shallot
While on his way to investigate Dr. Gero's Lab for potential clues, Zahha finds Super Saiyan Shallot fighting Dabura who is targeting the Ancient Saiyan due to the large amount of Kili he possesses and manages to turn to stone via Stone Spit. Fortunately, Zahha has a spell that can reverse the petrification saving Shallot. The old allies join forces once more to deal with Dabura who is pleased to see Zahha possesses a large amount of Kili as well. However Zahha's presence makes it impossible for Dabura to use his Stone Spit and Zahha realizes that Dabura is holding back to avoid killing them. Zahha tells Dabura that as long as he isn't prepared to kill them, then their battle is effectively a stalemate. Dabura realizing Zahha is correct and decides to retreat though notes he will return to harvest their Kili in due time.
After Dabura leaves, Zahha and Shallot inquires as to why the other is there, with Zahha suggesting they swap intel, but is interrupted by Future Mai who contacts Zahha via his communicator (same as the one used by Shallot to communicate with the teenage Bulma and Jaco). She informs him that their target is on the move and sends him the coordinates. Zahha asks Shallot to help him deal with his current mission even asking Jaco if he can borrow him for a bit, though Jaco is hesitant as he thinks Beerus won't like it, but Shallot ignores his concerns and decides to help Shallot with his mission first.
- Working with the Resistance
While on their way to the coordinates that Future Mai had sent Zahha, Shallot and Zahha catch up with Zahha apologizing for not arriving in time to help him combat Frieza though he applauds Shallot for defeating the tyrant. Zahha then explains that they have been on Dr. Gero's trail as Future Mai has a lot of useful intel on him and his Androids thanks to Future Trunks and Future Mai recognizes the threat the mad doctor and his creations pose given the hellish timeline she came from was a result of the actions of his counterpart. Zahha explains that Dr. Gero is searching for a specific Android and Shallot assumes they'll destroy it once they find it. However Zahha reveals that his intention is to talk to them as they may be able to turn them to their side, though if negotiations fall through Shallot can provide them with well needed muscle. Shallot notes Zahha keeps say "we" and asks who else he's working with. Zahha introduces Shallot to Future Mai who talks to them via Zahha's communicator and says she's heard a lot about Shallot from Zahha. Shallot asks if she's strong, though Zahha reveals her role is more in line with Bulma's as she mainly acts in a support role. Zahha however reveals they have fighters as well, one of whom he knows but keeps it a mystery for the time being. Unfortunately they run into two tournament participates Chiaotzu and Guldo whom they defeat before continuing onward. Eventually Shallot smells where they are headed and asks Zahha if that's where their going pointing out that whatever is going down smells dangerous. Future Mai questions how Shallot can smell anything from that distance and Zahha notes Mai is the only person to have a normal reaction to what Shallot said, though says he can vouch for Shallot's nose and that they better be prepared for the worse.
At the coordinates they find a city with clothes littering the ground. Zahha reveals that this scenario matches Future Mai's intel and tells Shallot that among the several different types of Androids created by Dr. Gero, there is a model that grows stronger by absorbing the bio essence of others, which Shallot interprets as eating people. Zahha reveals that this Android is not the one they have been seeking and notes now there are at least two types of Androids in the city. Suddenly they encounter Dodoria fleeing with two Frieza Force soldiers. Shallot learns this is a different Dodoria as he does not recognize Shallot and tells him to get out of his way. However Shallot wants to know what they were running from though Dodoria and his underlings attack them to force them to move only to be defeated and run off. Eventually they encounter Android 17 & Android 18 who were apparently targeting Dodoria and his underlings but decide to take on Shallot and Zahha. Zahha reveals that they are the ones he wanted to talk to and warns them to get out of the city. However they refuse and reveal they are from the main timeline when they were hunting for Goku with Android 16 thus are unaware of Cell. When Zahha's words fall on deaf ears, Shallot steps in recognizing things have gone south. The two Androids are impressed by Shallot and Zahha's strength, while Shallot finds fighting them enjoyable due to their strength. Unfortunately a voice says that he has finally found 17 and 18. The voice belongs to none other than Dr. Gero. Android 17 wonders how he could still be alive and 18 tells him its not the Dr. Gero they know but a counterpart of his. Dr. Gero notes that regardless of the timeline, 17 & 18 will always be defective to him and summons three Android 19s. Correctly guessing them to be Android 19s, the twins are not intimidated by Dr. Gero and end up fighting alongside Shallot and Zahha. After demolishing the Android 19s, they turn their attention to Dr. Gero and his two remaining Android 19s with Dr. Gero silent. After destroying the remaining 19s and defeat Dr. Gero, he reveals that he is just another remote controlled copy and notes that they will soon be part of something far greater. With Dr. Gero defeated, they hear the screams of townspeople in trouble with 17 preparing to check it out, only for Zahha to tell him to stop and they all wait and listen as people are consumed one by one. Eventually they notice the one causing the people to disappear is coming their way.
Zahha recognizes the creature as Cell and warns everyone about Cell's ability to absorb others. After fighting this Cell, they are amazed by its power and Cell attempts to target 18 for absorption, though he is stopped by the interference of Zahha's allies Piccolo and Cabba. Shallot is surprised to see Piccolo and notes his increased strength with Zahha explaining he comes a bit further down the line than the Piccolo that Shallot is familiar with. After briefly fighting him, Piccolo notes Cell is much stronger and asks how many people he's absorbed to get this strong. However this Cell reveals it is not the Cell he knows but a New Cell. Shallot notes that New Cell smells like Ginyu, Frieza, Frost, Nappa, and Vegeta. New Cell is surprised that Shallot knows Vegeta and proceeds to perform Galick Gun which surprises Shallot. Zahha and Piccolo realize that the New Cell was created by Dr. Gero using the genes of countless fighters participating in the tournament including those that he original Cell lacked such as Nappa, Ginyu, and Frost. New Cell explains that his power has far surpassed that of the original Cell, though as Piccolo is well aware he is still incomplete and must absorb 17 and 18 to achieve his perfect form. However Zahha refuses to allow New Cell to absorb the Androids and has Cabba distract New Cell long enough for him to cast a locational phasing spell (or in layman's terms teleportation). Once safely away from Cell, Zahha explains about the spell he used before revealing his plan to prevent New Cell from becoming Perfect, the destruction of 17 and 18. Both Shallot and Cabba are against Zahha's suggestion while Piccolo notes it is a sound strategy. After fighting with 17 and 18 who refuse to be killed, Shallot says the fight is a bunch of bull and rejects the idea of killing them, saying they should instead focus on destroying New Cell. Zahha however points out that he will just keep getting stronger the more he absorbs, though Shallot says they will just get stronger too. Zahha then reveals that it was all a test and that he didn't really intend to kill them, but was simply testing Shallot's resolve.
- The Twin's Bodyguards
Zahha reveals that they need to protect 17 and 18, with him assigning the task of bodyguard to both Shallot and Cabba, while Zahha, Piccolo, and Future Mai work on tracking down Dr. Gero who is still at large.
Power[]
Mai is as strong as the average human, though it would appear the conditions she is forced to live in may have hardened her a bit. To compensate, she carries ki projectile weapons, such as the pump-action shotgun commonly seen on her, and a rifle firing a special high powered energy bullet that Mai called Bulma's "Parting Gift". Unfortunately, her efforts are almost always in vain when compared to the immense power that Goku Black and Future Zamasu possess.
As a former operative of the Pilaf Gang, Future Mai relies primarily on military tactics and weaponry to fight as well as relying on coordinated assaults with Future Trunks and/or the Earth's Resistance.
Abilities[]
- Flight - The ability to fly by using ki. Used by Future Mai in the Dragon Ball Heroes game during the Prison Planet Saga as she lacks the ability in the anime and manga versions.
- Hikou - The ability to fly without ki via the use of wings or special mechanisms. In Dokkan Battle and Dragon Ball Legends, Future Mai uses a Jetpack to fly due to her inability to use ki-based flight in those games.
- All-Out Surprise Attack - Future Mai's Super Attack in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle where she aims and shots a .50 caliber bullet from her sniper rifle followed with a attack with her Rocket Launcher as a finisher.
- All-Out Counterattack - Future Mai and Future Trunks' Super Attack in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle where Mai fires a Flash Grenade to blind the opponent allowing Future Trunks to deliver a brief rush attack before kicking them upwards allowing Future Mai to fire her Rocket Launcher as a coup de grâce.
- Decisive Offensive for the Future - Future Mai and Future Trunks' Ultimate Super Attack in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle where Future Trunks charges in to deliver a rush attack while Mai aims her sniper rifle and shots a .50 caliber bullet that hits the opponent stunning them allowing Future Trunks to kick them into a nearby building which Future Mai had previously rigged with explosives which she remote detonates causing the building to collapse on the opponent.
- Full Charge Shot - A powerful energy blast that Future Mai fires from her Shotgun which has apparently been modified to fire Ki blast-like energy blasts in addition to Flash Grenades. Her Special Move Arts in Dragon Ball Legends.
- Shining Divider - A team Special Move Arts used by Trunks: Mai (Assist) in Dragon Ball Legends. Future Trunks attacks the opponent with his sword, while Future Mai fires a Full Charge Shot from her shotgun, with Future Trunks firing an X-shaped sword blast at the opponent as the finisher.
- Together as One - Trunks: Mai (Assist)'s supportive Special Quirk Skill Arts in Dragon Ball Legends where Future Trunks and Future Mai look into each other's eyes while romantically holding hands as they resolve to fight alongside each other.
- Strike for the Future - A team Ultimate Move Arts used by Trunks: Mai (Assist) in Dragon Ball Legends. Future Trunks punches the opponent in the gut hard knocking them back, with Future Mai firing both of her handguns at the opponent, which is followed up by Future Trunks throwing his sword, before charging up a Masenko to finish off the opponent.
- Infected
In Dragon Ball: The Breakers, Future Mai is taken over by a tuffle parasite from the evil machine mutant, Baby.
- Binoculars - Future Mai uses it to watch Trunks' many fights against Goku Black from a safe distance.
- Flash Grenades and Tear Gas - Future Mai uses these as a method to incapacitate and to escape from Goku Black. In Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, Future Mai uses Flash Grenade as a Super Attack. In Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission, she can fire a Flash Grenade from her Shotgun twice per battle as part of her Mai's Disruptive Tactics Ability which has a Attack Effect which Greatly increases the Charge Impact speed for all enemies. Unlike Dokkan Battle, Flash Grenade, however, causes no damage in Super Dragon Ball Heroes thus it is purely disruptive as it negatively effects the enemy's ability to attack successfully.
- Containment Vessel - Held by Future Mai as part of Future Trunks' Evil Containment Wave attack on Future Zamasu. Unfortunately due to the lack of the proper seal, Future Zamasu was able to escape the Containment Vessel.
- Gun - Future Mai's main weapon is a shotgun, resembling a sawed-off Remington 870, that has the ability to shoot Ki Blasts. She also wields two semi-automatic pistols resembling H&K USPs. In Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, her shotgun is apparently modified to double as a Grenade Launcher allowing her to shot Flash Grenades to damage or blind opponents during certain Super Attacks.
- Motor Scooter - Her source of transportation, allowing her to quickly cover ground, and to rescue an ally.
- Sniper Rifle - She once used it in an assassination attempt on Black, which ended in failure. Like her shotgun, it can shoot powerful energy waves. In Dokkan Battle, she uses it during All-Out Surprise Attack and Decisive Offensive for the Future to fire a powerful .50 caliber bullet.
- Rocket Launcher - Used by Future Mai as the finisher of her All-Out Surprise Attack Super Attack and during Future Trunks & Future Mai's All-Out Counterattack Super Attack in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle.
- Jet Pack - Used by Future Mai to fly in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle and Dragon Ball Legends due to her inability to use ki-based Flight.
Video Game Appearances[]
- Dragon Ball Heroes
- Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission
- Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
- Dragon Ball Legends
- Dragon Ball: The Breakers
In Dragon Ball Heroes, Future Mai and Future Trunks are seen running away from Goku Black, who is hunting them down to kill them. She appears again in Universe Mission 1 alongside Goku and Vegeta and became a playable character in Universe Mission 2.
In Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission, she is playable though she is a Special type character like Bulma which limits her to a support role and due to her ability can only attack using her Shotgun fired Flash Grenades twice per battle and unlike Bulma's Shooting Star her attacks do not cause actually damage and instead disrupt the enemy teams ability to attack by increasing the speed of their Charge Impact which determines whether an attack hits or is guarded successfully.
In Dokkan Battle, Mai (Future) appears as a solo playable character and can also fight as a team with Future Trunks. Like Mr. Satan and other flightless characters, she uses a Jetpack to fly.
In Dragon Ball Legends, Mai (Future) appears as both a solo playable character and Trunks: Mai (Assist) features Future Trunks as the main playable character, while Mai appears to assist him when certain Arts or actions are performed with them fighting as a team. Like in Dokkan Battle, she uses a Jetpack to fly, and she utilizes a firearm-based fighting style similar to Bulma (Youth) and Launch (she and Launch are also the only characters to utilize Shotguns). Additionally during the game's story, she forms a faction of Earth's Resistance after finding herself in Age 780 during the Tournament of Time gathering together various fighters such as Zahha, Piccolo (who had fused with Kami and previously encountered Cell), Cabba (from before the Tournament of Destroyers), Teen Gohan (post Cell Games), Nail, and even a couple Frieza Force soldiers. Like Team Beerus, her faction does their best to investigate and deal with potential threats such as New Cell created by Dr. Gero using genes collected from the tournament participates. As a result, her faction often ends up working alongside Team Beerus with Cabba even training under Shallot to become a Super Saiyan while Shallot trains under Gohan to achieve Super Saiyan 2. Teen Gohan and Cabba also take part in Shallot's Super Saiyan God ritual.
In Xenoverse 2, after the 1.05 version update, Future Mai's Clothes and Future Mai's Hat can be obtained for female Future Warrior (Saiyan, Earthling, or Majin), as a reward for completing Parallel Quest 107: "The Future's Greatest Hope". The Future Mai's Hat accessory also comes with a black wig based on Future Mai's hairstyle. It is considered a wig as it does not change color when a Super Saiyan transformation is used.
In The Breakers, Future Mai was added as a playable survivor for Season 5.

Trivia[]
- It appears that Future Mai broke connections with the Pilaf gang sometime after they were turned into toddlers. She never mentions Future Pilaf or Future Shu, or their current whereabouts.
- In the manga version of the saga, she does recognize present Pilaf and is quite happy to see him. When asked by Pilaf, she realizes Pilaf doesn't know what's waiting for him and says "to think that you'll end up like that" leaving Pilaf without much of an answer.
- A special chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga set in the "Pre-History of Trunks" saga reveals that after the Pilaf Gang's last wish for youth, both Future Mai and Future Trunks, as infants, gazed at one-another before she crawls away (foreshadowing their eventual encounter in the Future Trunks Saga).
- In gameplay footage of the Prison Planet Saga, Future Mai is shown levitating alongside Future Trunks and the others during battle, although this could be just a mere game-mechanic as she never displays the ability in the anime or manga (much like Teen Bulma, whom isn't trained in ki whatsoever).
- In Dokkan Battle, she is unable to use ki-based Flight and uses a jetpack to fly.
- In Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission, she attacks from the ground (during the Prep Phase, all characters stand on their VR Cards) so she isn't depicted using Flight in that game.
