In GreedFall you can choose your hero's class at the very beginning of the game. One of the available options is a Magic (Mage). If you choose it, you will be able to develop your magical abilities from the very beginning.

What talents to develop?

The most important talent you have to develop to create a battle mage is vigor. You can start developing it before you even start playing - while creating your character.

Vigor will provide you with more ammo, health, mana, and agility. It will help you to strengthen your hero and improve his combat skills. Faster mana regeneration will help you cast spells more efficiently during combat.

What attributes to develop?

Mental Power will increase the power of all spells and faster regeneration of fury. This attribute must be developed by every Mage in the game.

The second important attribute is Willpower. It affects mana regeneration and spell duration. It strengthens all your magic skills.

What skills to develop?

1. Stasis - this ability immobilizes your enemies for 8 seconds. Thanks to this, it increases the possibility of your escape and makes enemies easier to hit.
2. Perfect Incantation - reduces the mana cost of the Stasis spell.
3. Shield Of The Enlightened - strengthens and regenerates the armor of the hero.
4. Storm - creates a shockwave that causes stasis effect on nearby enemies and makes enemies more susceptible to magic.

It is also worth investing in other skills that will be useful when you run out of mana:

1. One-handed Blades - this skill will allow you to use one-handed weapons such as blades. They will work well when you run out of mana and may allow you to deal further damage to your opponent.
2. Strong Kick - kicking an opponent stuns him/her for a long time, making your enemy more susceptible to magical attacks.

How to fight as such type of character build?

Remember that your main attack are magical spells. They make it possible to stop or stun an opponent, and additionally they bypass his armor. This way, you can weaken your enemy and then kill him with melee weapon.

You can also invest in firearms and attack your opponent from time to time. This will give you bonus damage.
