Baldurs Gate 3: Release date Baldurs Gate 3 guide, walkthrough

Last update: 07 July 2023

Over two decades after its latest installment, Baldur's Gate makes its grand return with a new game developed by the famous Belgian team Larian.

This is the right moment to point out some features that will be only made available after the full release, which will distinguish Baldur's Gate 3 from its Early Access version.

Release date

Baldur's Gate 3 released in Early Access on Steam on October 6, 2020. It was originally supposed to remain in this state for about a year, but has suffered a series of delays.

The Early Access period is now coming to an end, however, with the game having received its final release dates:

  1. PC - August 3, 2023;
  2. PlayStation 5 - September 6, 2023.

Limitations in Baldur's Gate 3's Early Access

In its Early Access, Baldur's Gate 3 features the first out of the planned three acts. This means roughly about 25 hours of gameplay, though the actual number obviously depends on your playstyle.

The Early Access also features a level cap. The playable characters max out at Level 5.

As befitting an Early Access title, many features that are due to appear in the full version either aren't yet present at all, or are simplified (missing dialogue options, prematurely finished questlines, inaccessible locations).

You must also keep in mind the Early Access release may be much more susceptible to bugs and shortcomings, most of which will likely be fixed in the full release.

What will be added in the full release?

In addition to the aforementioned and already confirmed three acts and the Level 12 cap, the full release of Baldur's Gate 3 is also supposed to contain additional content. This includes:

  1. Split-screen co-op.
  2. a new class - Monk;
  3. two new races: Half-Orc and Dragonborn (and 10 subraces);
  4. new subclasses and specializations;
  5. a new premade character - Karlach.

We can also expect a plethora of new spells, items, companions and quests.
