Fia, Deathbed Companion - what does she do?
At Roundtable Hold, you will come across a mysterious woman. Fia, a Deathbed Companion, will ask if you will let her hug if you talk to her. This might be tempting, however, hugging Fia has certain consequences that the game does not explain, and it is worth knowing about them.
First of all, Fia will give you an item called Baldachin's Blessing. You can use it and exchange a small amount of Focus Points to temporarily boost your character's poise.
This will protect you from losing balance and collapsing during fights. It's useful when fighting enemies that attack with a series of hits and for characters who use shields. The Baldachin's Blessing is a consumable item. After each use, you have to go back to Fia and hug her to restock.
But Baldachin's Blessing is not all there is to know. After you hug and receive the item, you may notice that status has been imposed on you. You will see a red square under the life bar .
Fia does not mention it, but receiving Baldachin's Blessing inflicts a debuff on you that takes 5% of your total health bar - the higher your Vigor, the more severe the loss. Hence, think twice about whether losing some of your HP is worth temporarily getting a slightly better poise. You can easily get rid of the status after using Baldachin's Blessing or when your character dies.
