Acquiring and blocking hints in Vampyr Vampyr Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 05 June 2018
You will spend a lot of time in Vampyr talking to citizens of each district. Many of them have stories to tell. To unlock some dialogs, you need hints - the essential information about the character. There are several ways to discover them - usually by talking (not necessarily with the relevant person) or by investigating.
Acquiring hints
During investigations, you will often be asked to do favors for some character. Usually this will revolve around delivering a specific item, or reaching a certain place. Usually you can find an item there that will unlock new interactions. Moreover, sometimes you will have the choice of what to do in the context of a given situation.
Some hints are also included in letters and notes. Many of them are located close to the character the letter mentions. It is therefore very important to search all the rooms carefully and to investigate the private rooms of the citizens.
Blocking hints
When talking to citizens, we often face the choice of how to conduct certain dialogues. Choosing some dialogue options permanently blocks access to some of the hints. This is especially painful because there is no option to save or load at any time in the game. Be vigilant and visit a chapter of our guide dedicated to hints. In it you will learn how to unlock hints for all characters in the game.
Interestingly, there is a character in the West End, one Usher Talltree (the Master of the Order of St. Paul), who tells fortune using cards and can reveal, for 150 shillings, random hints about the characters.
