This chapter describes all of the residents of Pembroke Hospital. This district in Vampyr will be the one you will visit most often and for the most part, the district health of the facility will be very high.

Rakesh Chadana is a doctor who works at the front of the hospital, near the corpses of unknown patients. The man is also a merchant of medical ingredients - his hypnotism level is 4. | |
Clue #1 | Rakesh is not afraid of death since he served as a field doctor. Simply talk with the man and he will tell you about his past. |
Clue #2 | Rakesh was appointed to be a field doctor by mistake. You must go to Doctor Swansea's office (you gain access to the office in chapter 2) and read the letter about Rakesh. |
Clue #3 | Rakesh robs the dead, though he should be watching over them. You must look at Rakesh through the window when he is robbing the dead in the wooden booth. |
Clay Cox
Clay Cox is a suspicious type whom you will meet at the beginning of your visit to the hospital. If you let him live, he will loiter close to the hospital. His level of hypnotism is 1. | |
Clue #1 | Clay killed the brother of the man who tried to take his life. Talk to the man and he will tell you himself. |
Clue #2 | Clay plans to remain as the leader of a gang after he recovers. Talk to the man about the potential consequences that can reach him for the murders. |
Clue #3 | Clay is the husband of Edwina Cox. Read the letter next to Clay - it is lying on a chest (chapter 3). |
Clue #4 | Clay thinks that the knife he received from his wife is an amulet. Ask about the knife after reading the letter from Edwina. |
Dr. Swansea
Dr. Swansea is the doctor who is the head of Pembroke Hospital. He is responsible for the most important decisions, making him the pillar of the district. His level of hypnotism is 6. | |

Pippa Hawkins is a nurse who works at the hospital. Usually, she wanders around the ground floor of the building, close to the reception. Her level of hypnotism is 3. | |
Clue #1 | Pippa books beds for those patients who will be able to pay for them. Talk to Beatrice Goswick about the circumstances of her arrival at the hospital. |
Clue #2 | Pippa and Milton Hooks are a couple. Complete the investigation "Midnight in the garden of Good and Evil" and hand over the wallet to Milton. |
Clue #3 | Pippa is considering quitting her job at the Pembroke Hospital. Read the letter in the room next to the hospital's reception. |
Clue #4 | Pippa has the impression that since the epidemic broke out, she is a useless nurse. Talk to Pippa about her resignation and tell her that she should be proud of what she has achieved so far. |
Milton Hooks
Milton Hooks is a merchant who smuggles weapons to the hospital's residents. At one time he was an ambulance driver - you will find him outside the facility. His level of hypnotism is 2. | |
Clue #1 | Milton extorted money from some patients in Pembroke. To obtain this clue, go to the wooden hut with the bodies (in front of the hospital) and take a letter from one of the corpses. |
Clue #2 | Colleagues from Milton's work do not think much about him. Talk to Pippa about Milton and his work. |
Clue #3 | Milton and nurse Hawkins are a couple. Complete the investigation "Midnight in the garden of Good and Evil" and hand over the wallet to Milton. |
Dr. Corcoran Tippets
Dr. Corcoran Tippets is an acclaimed doctor who works at the hospital. Usually, he can be found outside the building, next to the dead. His level of hypnotism is 2. | |
Clue #1 | Corcoran is exhausted by constant work, but he does not want to take a break. Talk to Gwyneth Branagan and ask her about the staff. |
Clue #2 | Corcoran thinks Gwyneth Branagan is much more qualified than a normal nurse. Talk to the man about Gwyneth. |
Clue #3 | Corcoran's error in the medical art cost Connor his life. Examine the corpse in the basement of the Old Mortuary. |
Clue #4 | Corcoran will quit his job as soon as the epidemic ends. Confront Corcoran about the mistake in the operation. |
Clue #5 | Corcoran is addicted to drugs. Every now and then, the man hides in his office. You must then go through the hospital, exit from the side of the Old Mortuary and jump onto the balcony next to the man's office. You can then see how Corcoran injects himself with drugs. |
Gwyneth Branagan
Gwyneth Branagan is a nurse who works at the Pembroke hospital. She usually walks outside the facility. Her level of hypnotism is 5. | |
Clue #1 | According to Dr. Corcoran Tippets, Gwyneth is overqualified to be a nurse. Talk to Tippets about Gwyneth. |
Clue #2 | Gwyneth concealed the error in the medical practice of Dr. Corcoran Tippets. Complete the investigation "The harder they fall". |
Clue #3 | Gwyneth was suspected of neglecting her professional duties. You must complete the "Missing ingredients" investigation and give Dr. Thoreau Strickland the placebo. Thanks to that, you will receive the key to his office - inside you will find a letter about Gwyneth Branagan. |
Newton Blight
Newton Blight is Oswald's friend. You can find him near the river, outside the hospital. His level of hypnotism is 3. | |
Clue #1 | Due to an overwhelming fear of rats, Newton did not save his friend. Ask Newton about the circumstances of Oswald's disappearance. |
Clue #2 | Oswald and Newton Blight are in love. Wait for the men to enter the storeroom behind bars and you can see them kiss. |
Clue #3 | Newton does not admit that he is a homosexual. Ask the man about his feelings for Oswald. |
Clue #4 | Newton and Oswald Thatcher were buried alive in a bombing during the war. Talk to Newton Blight and tell him that he is afraid of being locked up. The "You were buried" option is correct - the remaining ones will cause you to lose the clue. |
Oswald Thatcher
Oswald Thatcher is a man whom you have the chance to save during the "Claustrophobia" investigation. If you save him, he will be near the river, close to Clay Cox. His level of hypnotism is 1. | |
Clue #1 | Oswald thinks that he does not have to go to the hospital to deal with his claustrophobia. Talk to Oswald about his affliction. |
Clue #2 | Oswald and Newton Blight are in love. Wait for the men to enter the storeroom behind bars and you can see them kiss. |

Beatrice Goswick is Mortimer's mother. She stays in the room where her sick son is lying. Her level of hypnotism is 4. | |
Clue #1 | Beatrice is not convinced about the effectiveness of healthcare at the Pembroke Hospital. Simply talk to the woman about her arrival at the facility. |
Clue #2 | Beatrice concealed her son's unsuccessful suicide attempt so that he would not be locked behind bars. Discover that Mortimer wanted to kill himself and talk to Beatrice about it. |
Clue #3 | Beatrice does not accept the unavoidable suicidal tendencies of her son. In the dialogue, tell the woman about potential future suicide attempts. Then state that Mortimer is lucky to have a mother like her. |
Mortimer Goswick
Mortimer Goswick is a hospital patient who claims he is seriously ill. You can find him on the ground floor - in the room with the sick. His level of hypnotism is 2. | |
Clue #1 | Mortimer is not infected with the Spanish flu. You must complete the "Missing ingredients" investigation and give Dr. Thoreau Strickland the placebo. Thanks to that, you will receive the key to his office - inside you will find a medical report about Mortimer. |
Clue #2 | Mortimer tried to take his own life. Listen to the boy's conversation with his mother (you have to stand outside the hospital, under the window to their room). |
Clue #3 | It seems Mortimer really wants to die. Complete the investigation "Burn after reading" and read the letter in the apartment of the Goswicks. |
Harvey Fiddick
Harvey Fiddick is a hospital patient. He is located on the ground floor, in the ward for the sick. His level of hypnotism is 1. | |
Clue #1 | Harvey's wife died during the war. You can acquire Clue #1 from Dr. Thoreau, talk to the doctor about Harvey's story. |
Clue #2 | Harvey blames himself for his accident. Get Clue #1 and then talk about the accident with Harvey. |
Clue #3 | Until Harvey's hand fully recovers, he will not be able to feed his family. Read the letter located next to Harvey's bed (chapter 3). |
Dr. Thoreau Strickland
Dr. Thoreau Strickland is a Pembroke hospital doctor. He works on the ground floor, close to the sick. His level of hypnotism is 4. | |
Clue #1 | Up to this point, Thoreau's blood transfusion experiments have been unsuccessful. Talk to Harvey Fiddick/visit the cellar of the Old Mortuary. |
Clue #2 | Thoreau secretly gives patients an experimental medicine for the Spanish flu. Take part in the "Missing ingredients" investigation. |
Clue #3 | In the past, there were doubts about Thoreau's medical skills. Go to Dr. Swansea's office and read the letter about Thoreau. |
Dr. Waverley Ackroyd
Dr. Waverley Ackroyd is a doctor who works in Pembroke. You can find him on the ground floor - in the room with the sick. His level of hypnotism is 4. | |
Clue #1 | Waverley does not support modern medicine. Simply talk to the man to find out. |
Clue #2 | Despite fierce competition between the two, Waverley would not have used formal tricks to plunge Dr. Thoreau Strickland. Get clues about Dr. Thoreau (probably clue #1 or #2). |
Clue #3 | Waverley's skills are awe-inspiring, but he is considered an overly proud arrogant. In the hospital, you can find a letter about Ackroyd. |
Thomas Elwood
Thomas Elwood is a hospital patient. He is located close to the lobby - next to Thelma Howcroft. His level of hypnotism is 1. | |
Clue #1 | Thelma Howcroft is living proof for Thomas that there is still hope for him. Talk to Thelma about her illness and then talk to Thomas. |
Clue #2 | Thomas blames himself for suffering the wounds of war that have disfigured him. Pick up a medical report - it is located on the first floor, not too far from your office. In the room where you got the saw. |
Clue #3 | Thomas is too ashamed of his wounds to meet his family. Ask the man about the reason for his accident. The correct answer is You cannot hide forever. Choosing the "Surgery could help you" option blocks the clue. |
Thelma Howcroft
Thelma Howcroft is a mentally ill patient at Pembroke Hospital. The woman convinced herself that she is a vampire. You can find her on the ground floor, near the lobby. Her level of hypnotism is 2.

Clue #2 | The Guard of Priwen suspects that Thelma might really be a vampire. Go to the Guard's hideout (during the "Wrong target" investigation) and read the letter on the first floor. |
Clue #3 | Thelma saw a vampire kill a man. After getting the previous clue, talk to the woman about vampires. |
