The USS Berlin (NCC-2001) was a 23rd century Federation starship, an Excelsior-class vessel in Starfleet service in the 2280s and/or 2290s decades.
Service history and disposition[]
This vessel takes its name from the city of Berlin on the planet Earth's European continent, and is a successor to previous vessels that have borne the name, the Loknar-class USS Berlin (NCC-2731) and the Miranda-class USS Berlin (NCC-1658). (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual; ST video game: Starfleet Command)
During an era of militaristic tension, Berlin was equipped as a battlecruiser (BCE). (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
- No history or definitive fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a battlecruiser by the SFC games' software.
By the 24th century, this vessel had been succeeded in name by the London-class USS Berlin. (TNG video game: Birth of the Federation)

Background[]
There exists the possibility that this is the same vessel as the 24th century USS Berlin (NCC-14232), mentioned in TNG, since that vessel is of the same class. The difference in the registry number and the 70+ year interval might preclude this correlation with the canon Berlin. For the purposes of this wiki, the ships are listed as separate.
