Namesake[]

Mestral

Mestral in 1957.

Mestral was a 20th century Vulcan explorer who was part of a surveyor crew that crashed on Earth in the year 1957. Mestral opted to remain behind due to his fascination with Humanity. (ENT episode: "Carbon Creek")

In the mid-20th century, Mestral worked with the Aegis and Project Blue Book agents to guard Human civilization from harm. (TOS novel: From History's Shadow)

In 2067, Mestral prevented a catastrophe during the launch of the deep space probe Friendship 1 on behalf of the Aegis. (TNG novel: Hearts and Minds)

Active service[]

Soon after stardate 78186.03[3] in the year 2401, the Mestral was among the Starfleet ships tracking down the rogue USS Titan-A. Starfleet had been infiltrated by Changelings. The USS Mestral, alongside the USS Trumbull and USS Yorktown, found one of the signal buoys left by the Titan-A. (PIC episode: "The Bounty")
