Resident Evil VII is not an easy game to master and to earn a 100% completion (PC, Xbox One versions) or a platinum trophy (PlayStation 4 version). The bare minimum for a 100% completion of the game is doing three playthroughs, but due to some very strict requirements of the hardest achievements you have to be ready for a possibility of doing even more runs.
Your first playthrough should be done on the easy difficulty level. This will not only help you to get familiar with the game, but it'll also be much easier to get some of the trophies related to fighting enemies. Try to get all of them during this playthrough. You should also use this playthrough to find all collectibles - antique icons, files, video tapes and Mr. Everywhere statues. After the boathouse fight choose who should receive the serum and remember this choice, because it will lead to one of two available endings.
Your second playthrough should be done on the newly unlocked madhouse difficulty level. During this playthrough pay attention to the "Mad Pelicans" achievement which forces you to find new antique coins. Also, don't forget to give the other person the serum after the boathouse fight so that you'll watch the second available ending at the end of your run.
Additional playthroughs should be devoted to:
- Finishing the game in less than 4 hours (Just Get Me Outta Here)
- Finishing the game using First Aid Med no more than 3 times (Walk It Off)
- Finishing the game using the item box no more than 3 times (Resource Manager)
All of these requirements should be done while playing on the easy difficulty setting. If you're REALLY good you can attempt all of them in a single playthrough, but it's much more comfortable to split them to 2 or even 3 additional playthroughs.
Important - If you're struggling with the bosses on the Madhouse difficulty level try doing the speedrun playthrough first. Completing it will grant you access to a circular saw and this weapon comes in handy in some of the toughest battles, like the one with Marguerite in the greenhouse.
Important - Remember that the game offers detailed stats and most of them are about things tied to achievement requirements. You can view the stats at any moment after pausing the game. Use this often to check if you didn't use an item too many times or if your playthrough time is good enough to keep playing.
