Ender Dragon - how to fight and defeat? Boss fight walkthrough, tips, advice

This page of our Minecraft guide has information about the Ender Dragon. The description of the battle with this boss was divided into two parts: preparation and the fight itself.
Preparation
Fighting the dragon, especially solo, may be quite a challenge for you. Before you enter the End Portal, you should make sure that you have the right equipment on you, because you will not be able to come back, until you kill the enemy.
It is of utmost important that you get an armor, two iron ones is the best idea. You are not going to use the sword here as your basic weapon, but it is a good thing to have it with you, in the case of the Endermans attack. You can use it to deal damage to the dragon, but the occasions to strike at him with the sword are few and far between, especially without the risk of losing your health. Also, do not ignore the pickaxe - you never know where you will end up in The End. You should remember about the bow with the highest possible level of enchantment. Just in case, take two of these. Do not forget about arrows! you are going to need, around, 20 of them, on condition that your aiming is good. For safety reasons, it is best if you take 60, or more.
The last items that are a must, are: loads of any food and potions brewed beforehand - the selection of potions depends on your preferences - but it is necessary to take a potion of regeneration, as an additional ne, you can use the potion of swiftness. You can also equip yourself with a pumpkin. When worn on the head, instead of the helmet, it protects from provoking the Endermans by mistake. Unfortunately, it limits the field of vision and does not protect against damage.
Fight
Once you are in The End, you will spot the dragon somewhere up in the air, in a random position. It is moving around a bit chaotically, and attacks your character, from time to time. The key is to keep an eye on the beast for the whole time, to prevent being attacked from behind. When you see the dragon's health bar, this means that it is somewhere nearby. You can also hear it and, if you can only hear the dragon, and do not see it, run away in any direction, instead of trying to spot it. What matters during this battle is mobility, which is why it makes no sense to put up covers, especially that nothing, apart from the obsidian and End Stone, nothing is capable to stop it. Instead, the dragon blows any blocks up just like the TNT.
The first thing that you need to do is destroy all of the Ender Crystals. These are the objects on the tall pillars that heal the dragon at a very fast rate. Whenever the dragon flies near the crystals, you can discern a white line, which is a sign that the dragon is currently using that crystal to heal. If you manage to destroy the crystal at the moment at which the dragon is using it to heal, the beast will receive serious damage. To destroy a crystal, you simply need to shoot at it with an arrow, once. It is not a good idea to try destroying a crystal with the sword, because the dragon may throw you off the pillar, as you are climbing, and additionally, the crystals explode when destroyed.
As you switch to the battle itself, try to aim at the dragon's head, with the bowstring drawn as far back as possible. By shooting into the other body parts, you only deal a quarter of the damage. Try keeping your eyes on the dragon for the whole time. If you are low on health, drink a potion but, do not stop observing where the beast is flying. Also, do not try attacking it from height (e.g. while standing on a pillar) because you are, then unable to dodge. The last thing that needs to be remembered, although this does not happen often - the dragon falls down, after it dies, and explodes like a charge of TNT. Staying nearby may result in your death.
