Furnace: how to craft, build? Recipe
Last update: 10 July 2020
This page of our Minecraft guide has basic information about a Furnace. You will find out how to make it and what it is for.
Furnace is a structure created with the Crafting Table, using 8 stones arranged into the shape of square, with an empty slot in the middle. The furnace allows you to smelt iron ores, prepare better meals and craft glass, smooth blocks of stone, green dye (off cacti), obtain red powder from redstone ore, smelt clay and Netherrack into bricks and to bake wood into charcoal.
Each of the above elements can be obtained by putting an item to process in the top part of the furnace and the source of heat at the bottom. As a source of heat, you can use coal, charcoal, lava bucket, Blaze Rod, and wood (blocks, boards, sticks and saplings). each one of them has its own energetic value, which influences the number of objects that can be processed, before the furnace runs cold.
For as long as nothing is placed in the upper slot, even if coal is loaded, it will not be burned and it will wait for an object to be placed in the upper slot. Also, if all the items are processed, or there is not enough room to process all of it, the furnace will stop operating and will not burn the material provided as heat source.
