Redstone circuits guide
Last update: 12 July 2020
On this page of our Minecraft guide, you will find basic information about redstone circuits.
An interesting kind of block in Minecraft is the redstone. You can pulverize it into a powder, which functions as an electricity conductor. Thanks to this, you can automate the game a little and craft interesting circuits. Such circuits allow for, e.g. switching lights on automatically, or opening door with a button. Still, you can prove your creativity by crafting a wide variety of traps for mobs and other opponents.
Apart from the dust, to craft circuits, you can use a wide variety of items, and also structures based on rails and minecarts. Their complexity and size are, in reality, unlimited and you only need to observe the basic rules of circuit crafting, such as the duration of the transferred redstone signal.
To craft any circuit, you need redstone. You can find redstone blocks at the lower levels of caves. You can find them most often in the underground blocks of lava. After you smash such a block, you can immediately collect redstone dust that is ready to be used in crafting. To craft it into a wire, you need to target the block that you want to put it into and, while holding it in your hand, press the action key/button. You can collect it by destroying it, without damaging the block at the same time but, after you destroy the block, the dust, worked into that block, will be automatically dropped next to it. The dust cannot be placed vertically onto block's walls. However, if the break in the circuit equals one block, the signal is transferred, as if, "across the block".
