Here you can read what researching is and how to conduct it in The Serpent Rogue. You will learn why and how to conduct research using a portable lab, how to check the tested materials, and what ingredients can be tested.
What is research?
Researching is an important part of the gameplay in The Serpent Rogue. They only apply to potion ingredients. Without researching the materials, you won't be able to use them for making potions. However, this does not apply to the materials used in the other activities: creating tools and making dishes. The materials are plants, animal fragments and other organic matter.
You can view the full list of ingredients for research in your journal, along with the research progresses.
How to conduct research?
You can test the raw materials on the laboratory table in the Abandoned House or in your portable lab. All you need is a specific amount of test material. You can research several units of materials to avoid storing them in your inventory/chest. Common resources require about 10-15 units to discover their use, rare resources only 3.
Each material requires a different number of units - you can learn about them in detail on the Materials and research page. The research reveals the properties of the ingredients, meaning you will be able to use them in creating other products.
