Differences in the structure of the world and mission

The LEGO Skywalker Saga game and the previous LEGO Star Wars games differ significantly in terms of the structure of the game world. In Skywalker Saga:

  1. The heroes traverse the galaxy map, which is gradually unlocked as you progress in the main story (episodes 1-9 - you can complete them in any order).
  2. On the galaxy map, there are open sandbox locations which can be, for example, the planets' surfaces or cities known from movies. In each of these locations, you can engage in many optional activities (collectibles, puzzles, side missions, etc.) and play story missions.
  3. Each episode consists of 5 levels - story missions . The chapters are built similarly to those in older games, although they are much shorter than them. This is because of the emphasis on the previously mentioned open locations that you can extensively explore.

In LEGO Skywalker Saga, the missions are divided again into Story Mode and Free Play Mode. Even more important than in the older LEGO Star Wars games is to unlock and use characters with unique skills, which are the only ones that can get to, for example, some secret locations or obtain some collectibles.

Episodes 1-6

Levels of episodes 1-6 in LEGO Skywalker Saga are not copies of missions known from older games, i - LEGO Skywalker Saga: New and old Missions - are they different? - FAQ - LEGO Skywalker Saga Guide

Levels of episodes 1-6 in LEGO Skywalker Saga are not copies of missions known from older games, i.e. LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. You don't have to worry that the new game features identical stages in remastered form.

Some scenes and fights are similar in Skywalker Saga, but it is due to the story. For example, in the new and old games, the plot of episode 1 begins with the negotiations in which Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are about to take part. However, in the new game, the authors created other types of puzzles, and the gameplay during the fights with droids is modified.

The same goes for boss fights, which in LEGO Skywalker Saga may have a different course and involve performing unique activities during various stages of the combat.

Episodes 7-9

Episode 7 from LEGO Skywalker Saga also differs from the chapter available in LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens - LEGO Skywalker Saga: New and old Missions - are they different? - FAQ - LEGO Skywalker Saga Guide

Episode 7 from LEGO Skywalker Saga also differs from the chapter available in LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens. This is because, among other things, the new game is now divided into open locations and story levels. You can find some similarities during the fight with Kylo Ren, but you can't rely completely on the tactic known from the older game.

Episodes 8 and 9 have not appeared in the LEGO games before. Therefore their story and gameplay are an entirely new experience.
