Cere, in Cal's absence, has to face Darth Vader in Jedi Survivor, and he is a challenging boss. The walkthrough tells you when Vader appears on Jedha, what battle tactics Cere can use, how to avoid Vader's red attacks and how to advance to the next parts of the duel.
Location of the fight with Darth Vader
Darth Vader was a boss in Jedi Fallen Order, and he is back in Jedi Survivor. The fight with him occurs when you play as Cere - you will temporarily take control of her after the Imperial forces attack the base on Jedha.
Cere needs to return to the Archives to retrieve the codes. There is a meditation point at its entrance - use it to restore healing charges and save the game. In the Archives, approach the table. Watch a cut-scene.
First Phase
The duel with Vader consists of 3 phases and, since you play as Cere, it has some unique assumptions:
- You can heal in a similar way to Cal. Cere doesn't need BD-1 to recover, but she only has 4 healing charges and they must last you the entire fight.
- You can't change your lightsaber stance. Practice Cere's basic movements and the use of the Force.
The first part of the fight is less challenging, but still beware of the grab - it's Vader's red attack. If Cere is caught, she will lose a lot of health points. You have to dodge this move.
Parry Vader's regular attacks and make him lose stamina points faster. This will allow you to deplete his health bar.
You may have a lightsaber clash with Vader. Keep pressing the attack button visible on the screen.
You need to take away about 1/4 of Vader's health. Watch the cut-scene and advance to the second phase of the battle.
Second Phase
Starting from the second phase, Vader can use Force Pull. The attack itself does not deplete health points, but you must be vigilant when the boss starts pulling you towards himself - instantly perform a block or dodge, because Vader will immediately attack with his lightsaber.
Darth Vader will also start using a red spinning attack. Dodge to make sure you are out of range of this attack.
Vader's another new attack is throwing large objects - you must dodge them to the side to avoid damage.
Fight until Vader loses about half of his health. You will proceed to the final third phase of the battle.
Third Phase
This is the most difficult part of the duel. Vader will attack more often and use combinations of attacks. These are a series of 3 or 5 lightsaber swings and the last swing from a given combination is always a red attack.
Just like in the previous parts of the fight, parry and attack frequently to deplete the boss's white stamina bar. This will enable you to deal Vader some damage for a period of time.
When the boss has only a small portion of health left, the game will play a cut-scene.
