Best stance
Cal at any given time can have 2 stances at the ready and use one of them. Our recommendations are:
- Dual Wield- This stance will allow you to make a series of quick attacks. Its added advantage is easier automatic pairing thanks to the focused pairing skill (this does not include red attacks).
- Crossguard - This is the ideal posture for mounting very powerful attacks. They are slow, so this will only work on selected types of enemies and in situations where the enemy has been stunned.
We discuss all 5 attitudes in more detail below.
Stance #1 - Single
Cal uses a single-handed lightsaber. The stance is available from the very beginning of the game and does not need to be unlocked.
Single is the most balanced stance, which has no clear strengths or weaknesses.
Stance #2 - Double-bladed
Cal uses a lightsaber with 2 blades. You will unlock this stance shortly after the start of the game. Cal will arrive on Coruscant to a group of stormtroopers and a tutorial on switching between different stances will be initiated.
It's a good stance for attacking groups of enemies and for deflecting constant fire by enemies equipped with blasters. Its disadvantages are lower strength and worse range.
Stance #3 - Dual wield
Cal holds a separate lightsaber in each hand. You will unlock this stanceduring the clash with the Ninth Sister boss. This is the second major boss to be defeated on Coruscant.
It's a stance for making quick attacks, but the range is severely reduced. It's also worth using the very useful focused pairing (hold down Triangle / Y), which is capable of automatically deflecting enemies' regular attacks.
Stance #4 - Crossguard
Cal uses a two-handed lightsaber. You will unlock this stance as the last one. It is the reward for defeating the Drya Thornne boss, which you must face on the Destroyed Moon. This is a unique location from the galaxy map visited in the search for Tanalorr.
This stance is made for very slow but powerful attacks, which can be additionally charged to inflict even more damage. It only works well against slow opponents or those who have been temporarily stunned.
Stance #5 - Blaster
Cal simultaneously uses a blaster and a lightsaber. You will unlock the stanceduring your first visit to the Cere base located in Jedah. On the way back to Mantis, the hero will be stopped by Bode who will give you a blaster.
It's a very good stance for increasing the effectiveness of ranged combat. Cal can fire regular or loaded blaster shots with unlimited ammunition regenerated by attacking enemies with a lightsaber.
Changing stances
At any given time, Cal can have 2 of the 5 available stances at the ready. Reach any meditation point or any workshop and go to the stances menu. You can set 2 different ones among the ones you have.
Stances can be changed by:
- pressing the left and right directions on the crossbar while playing on the pad;
- pressing X and C while playing on the keyboard.
Improving stances
Each stance has its own separate skill tree and you can buy more by spending 1 or more skill points on them.
With items from the development trees, you can unlock new moves for a given stance (e.g. a new way for the block to work), as well as enhance and modify already known attacks. You should upgrade the 2 stances you use most often in the game first, because skill points accumulate relatively slowly.
