As you traverse the world of Star Wars Jedi Survivor, you may encounter floating balloons that are associated with map exploration. Our guide explains how to interact with balloons and how to use them to launch yourself toward distant ledges.
Balloons
Starting from Koboh, you can encounter balloons floating above shelves and platforms. At first, unfortunately, they are not interactive - you can't move to them and they are also marked in red on the holographic map.
Unlocking the gadget for balloons
You must advance in the main story and visit Republic Research Laboratory on the Shattered Moon. You visit this location when pursuing Rayvis - one of the main antagonists.
In the laboratory, you can examine a certain device. Watch the vision and unlock an Upgraded Ascension Cable.
Grabbing balloons
From this point on, you can use the ascension cable to pull yourself to the balloons. You must be within range of the balloon and press the gadget use button (L2/LT).
Some balloons are initially far away - you can only get closer to them by flying. You then have to use the ascension cable before falling into the abyss.
Hold down the ascension cable button. After Cal is pulled to the balloon, a blue stream will appear and you can determine where you want you bounce off of the balloon. This is required in those locations where you have to jump to the next balloon or, for example, a wall. Look around (move the mouse or the right analog stick) to choose the direction.
