Dying in Star Wars Jedi Survivor is a common occurrence, especially when facing bosses or strong monsters like rancors. This page of the guide show the consequences of dying - we explain how respawns work and how to retrieve lost experience points.
Dying and respawning
Dying and respawning in Jedi Survivor works very similarly to the system found in Jedi Fallen Order. Each death resets your progress on the XP bar (exemplary one in the screenshot) - you'll lose all experience points amassed after the previous threshold (acquiring the last skill point). Fortunately, the game won't deprive you of the skill points you already acquired.
After watching the death animation, you must confirm the respawn - your character will be reborn at the nearest meditation point.
Note - The game marks your death site on the map. This can be helpful in recollecting where you went the last time.
Retrieving lost XP
There is a chance to recover all XP lost at the time of death. To do this, you must return to the place where you died and attack the opponent who killed you earlier. After this enemy takes any damage, you should see a message about recovering XP, and your health and Force bars will be replenished.
You can repeat this step as many times as you like. For example, if a given monster kills you 3 times, you can return to its position each time and perform the attack to retrieve XP.
After recovering XP, finishing the battle against the enemy who killed you is not mandatory. If you think that the battle is too challenging, you can always run from the site. In selected fights (against bosses and elite opponents) escaping ins not possible. Another solution for situations like these is lowering the difficulty level in the options menu.
